Writing poetry, but not submitting much these days. All the poetry journals I used to submit to this time of year are either closed or charge fees now. Oh well, less rejections that way. In a way, it's nice to write just for myself again.

I usually like Rebecca Ferguson, but I think even she knew her character & especially her fake accent did not fit in at all in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Also missed Arthur & Alfie. Cillian was splendid as always though.

I subscribed to National Theater at Home so I can watch a bunch of West End productions. Last night, I watched Medea starring Helen McCroy (RIP) and Micaela Coel and it was so good. I’m about to watch Gillian Anderson in A Streetcar Named Desire.

If you like cosmic horror & marine biology as much as I do, have I got a book for you! The Jellyfish Problem by Tess Yang. It's like Widow's Bay, but with a giant jellyfish named Clementine.

Ruth Wilson's movie True Things was painfully relatable - she thought she was in love, but she's really just depressed. Thankfully the happy, liberated ending was also relatable. The scene where she's dancing to PJ Harvey's "Rid of Me" is 100% me.

Be your best weird. No one can tell you what you love. Always be writing the next book. The best thing you can do for your writing is SOMETHING ELSE (work, garden, talk to other people). That’s my top writing advice.

Furious is a show that feels like it was made just for me. The finale was a perfect end to a perfect show.

I don't even think you should be allowed to call a submissions period "OPEN" if you charge a fee. It's not open. It's restricted to those who can afford your fee.

I just... I know times are bad. But charging writers to have their work read is absolutely ridiculous. I hate this for journals, I hate this for presses, I hate this.

finally watching British TV mini series Adolescence & now I get the hype. Stephen Graham deserved all the praise he got for it.

Wendell Berry was a favorite author & poet of mine. His Port William book series is so good. His writing had a big influence on my own books.

had a Jesse Plemons double feature tonight: I'm Thinking of Ending Things followed by Bugonia. Both somewhat depressing films, but superbly acted by Plemons & his costars (Jesse Buckley & Emma Stone respectively).

probably no surprise I love Bodkin, eerie dark comedy Irish series starting Will Forte & Obituary's Siobhán Cullen.

Kiki Rockwell may be edging Florence + the Machine out as #1 on my concert wishlist. I love all her gothic forest songs, her new single "Selkie" included

got tickets to see Laci Kaye Booth next month. I feel kinda bad so many singers I love are forced to play small local venues, but it's great for fans like me that can't afford big concerts right now.

Jake Hoot concert tonight at small local outdoor venue was surprisingly awesome. His voice is phenomenal. Better than most country stars currently filling arenas.

picked up a venus flytrap at a local native plants market in NC. it's a lil tired after the long roadtrip but starting to perk up in the sunlight.

I’m two episodes into #Furious on HULU. It is an exacting and sometimes brutal show, but it’s excellent. Truly excellent.
