“GOTTA LEARN AI OR BE LEFT BEHIND.” Good. Fuck off! Leave me behind! Enjoy your artbarf rapture, your janky Temu future. I’ll be back here looking at real birds and writing weird, also real, books.

He/him. Gilligan’s Island aficionado.
Reading, and writing, are holy. I love reading novels because they tell me something. They say: "this is what someone believed enough to dedicate months or years of their life to say." This is just as true for the trashiest pulp as it is for the highest literature.
They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
Had a dream where I was using a dart gun on dinosaurs that would create eggs that were manifested as balloons. A brachiosaurus I used it on chased me off and then tried to grab its egg which floated away since it doesn’t have hands to grab the string I’m not sure the dream book can explain this.
In the Gilligan’s Island episode “Gilligan’s Personal Magnetism”, a bowling ball gets stuck on Gilligan’s hand when he gets struck by lightning. Later the ball comes free from a second lightning strike but it renders him invisible. So dumb but I still love the episode. #GilligansIsland
Not a single day passes where I don’t regret not buying this phone.
When you want to write, "The AI wants to hurt people," remember that you mean to write, "The AI company profits off of hurting people."
AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted.... History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ― George Orwell, 1984
I always hope the good, smart, and loving vibes I put out into the world outweigh the bad, stupid, and angry vibes.
I don’t watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia but I did watch this episode since it’s Gilligan’s Island themed. The show might not be to my interests but it was still fun. They even make jokes about the 3rd movie with the Harlem Globetrotters playing basketball against robots. #GilligansIsland
There’s so many problems that have lead us to this clumsy solution. Square Enix is trying to stay in the RPG pool while also trying not to get wet. Grinding is a major part of the rpg experience. It feels like they don’t want to make rpgs Without the name, I’m not sure their games would sell.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will let players raise their character’s level automatically to skip grinding | VGC
It’s designed for players who don’t want the side content and just want the main story…

"due to their open views about gender, sexuality, and politics" what views are those, polygon? which ones do you consider controversial? let's hear it.

Had someone reply to my post earlier today. I was going to engage with them but saw they had a slur in their name. That’s an immediate block. There’s no time for that level of bigotry.
I’m so tempted to just become a weirdo who only watches, plays, and reads things made before 2017. If creators can’t create things without using the plagiarism machines, maybe I’ll just stop consuming media made after the machines were forced upon us.
One time, and I promise this is true, Bush gave a flip remark about violence while playing golf and it became a defining moment for his legacy. This president shrugging about a war he started while overseas at a golf tournament that is lining his own pockets won’t be remembered in two weeks.
Q: What do you make of the Gulf nations meeting with Iran? TRUMP: I don't care. That's up to them. We'll ultimately get out. Unless we decide to stay and keep the oil! Like Venezuela

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.
Woke up this morning with the “sorry Atari” from the end of this commercial stuck in my head.

It was hard enough losing Dolly yesterday. ☹️ And now, we cry a sea of black tears for our very own Doviculus: The irreplaceable Tim Curry. May these beloved legends rest well, as we carry their spirit forward~ 🩷🖤
My daughter got these books when she was little. They were magical and great books and read so many of them to her so many times. I remember getting this letter and being bummed but also being so happy for all the books we got that we never would have been able to afford on our own.
This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.

*Hot take article* Me: Ah, neat. It makes some very valid points *Some people react negatively to the article* Me: Unsurprising, the article is devisive. *Reaction to reaction questions why people would react strongly to article* Me: So, no opposing opinions are allowed? Make this make sense.
Man it is WILD to me that people are so mad about a single writer laying out why they think a thing is bad on a website they own! Where did people who read games writing get this sense of fairness they demand from everyone, this notion that all things must be treated as good, no yums be yucked
My parents won a cd player at a raffle and we didn’t have any CDs but a neighbor had this and gave it to us.
44 years ago today, the first CD was produced. What is the first CD you owned?
