🚨 KOSA UPDATE The added "duty of care" standard would force websites to identify minors to avoid legal risk, pushing the internet toward ID checks, facial scans, mass age-gating, excessive data collection and censorship FOR EVERYONE. Next comes a full Senate vote. Contact your senators NOW. (1/2)

LinkedIn added an "AI slop" button. The U-Turn is happening, expect to see a lot more of this from other tech companies.

Furries: "Why would a gay guy be a fascist lmao? Doesn't he know he'll be killed next?? 😂😂" Also furries: "Yeah, it's super awesome when sex workers and artists who never hurt a single soul get their lives ruined over harmless kink art. This won't have repercussions for me or my subculture later."

'As the progressive, I am going to progressively make sure all LGBT kids are rendered unable to access information about themselves. I would like them all to kill themselves, actually.'

They vote on this shit THIS MONDAY. Call your representatives and tell them to VOTE NO on KOSA, KIDS, and other "age verification" bills. This would basically gut online privacy if it passes. You care about your privacy? Your freedom? Your rights? Call now. Get off your ass and do it. Call.

I made my call just now. I promise you it’s not that anxiety inducing. It takes 5 minutes. We have proven time and time again that we can oppose these bills regardless of how they repackage them. Call now. Use this site to help. Save the internet with me. badinternetbills.com

re: getting your paypal nuked (or stripe, your bank account, any visa/mastercard access, etc) Please report your experience to the FTC and the OCC. They're already under pressure for debankment and we want to stress how important this is (and once again, the OCC mentioned adult entertainment)

Harmonie Perrone health and life was devastated by a Catholic hospital in Illinois that refused to treat her for an ectopic pregnancy, resulting in infertility and a real risk of death. Illinois is a pro-choice state but Catholic facilities can enforce shadow bans.

"Working class" in 2026 means a blue haired barista with they/them pronouns, a Asian immigrant nail technician, and an undocumented hotel cleaner. And we are going to keep having the same fights until we let the midcentury illustrator mirage of the white guy in plaid with the lunch pail go.

So i labeled my posts correctly, got his with an account-wide label that recently kept anyone from seeing even text posts. I got an update email regarding this that basically says every bit of media i post will still be adult labeled regardless of content anway, so uh why have per post labels?

email from bluesky moderation that reads "We’re writing with an update about how the “adult content” label is being enforced on your Bluesky account (@jayaxer.bsky.social).

This label was originally applied because some of your posts met our definition of adult content. The label exists to give people control over whether they see adult content.

Recently, we changed how the label is enforced to reduce accidental exposure for people who’ve opted out of adult content in their moderation settings. Those changes missed the mark, so we’re rolling them back and returning to the original enforcement outcome while we work on a better approach. We’ll share more before we make further changes.

What the original enforcement means for your account: All media you post (images, videos, etc.) is automatically labeled as adult content People who have disabled adult content in their settings won’t see your posts Your content will be filtered from feeds and search results for users who’ve opted out of adult material"

This is shockingly salient insight. Despair comes for us all and sometimes it gains a foothold. Good vibes or even triumphs can't banish it any more. A little hope is enough for now. Even if you only manage a bit of hope or pride in times when you're strong, that's enough, it makes a difference.

Coach Gowron@coachgowron.com · 3mo ago

If hopelessness has made a home in your heart, it cannot be dislodged easily or all at once. Chip away at it with small victories, moments of hope and defiance. It is not easy and it will take time and effort, but strive to make it an uncomfortable home, a place where despair is no longer welcome.

The way to do this is to quit imposing your worthless modbot on every image. You have only continued to discourage accurate use of YOUR OWN MODERATION SYSTEM by relying on a god-awful piece of trash. That applies punitive, misleading, or - VERY frequently - blatantly incorrect labels BY DEFAULT.

Bluesky Safety@safety.bsky.app · 3mo ago

We’ve received questions from users about recent changes to the way the app handles account-level moderation labels. The goal of these changes was to reduce accidental exposure of adult content to minors and those who opt out of this content in their personal moderation settings.

There's a rise in furries saying they can't go to a con because they don't have a fursuit. And I've seen countless profiles say things like "I don't have a fursona because I can't afford a fursuit or art." Oh my sweet summer children, your imagination is your fursona. A fursuit is a luxury.

Liisen Bazu@poing.bsky.social · 5mo ago

Some advice for younger people coming into the fandom. Having a fursuit doesn't define your worth or your popularity. I got into the fursuit thing later in life In the fandom and I've gotten a few new contacts, but I never lost touch with the ones who mean the most. Remember your roots.

This is probably not gonna go anywhere, but I might as well call out that it's the Spotify model of revshare but for games, which famously doesn't pay anyone fairly. I've also never heard of this organization until today or, with respect to the devs, any of these games

As someone who went on the Internet for the first time in the early 90’s, I fucking loved the Internet. It has given so many things in life, and afforded me so many incredible experiences. And to see it, and technology in general where they are today is kinda soul crushing.
