An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

As both an academic and a writer, I am repelled by the "this looks like a long document. Would you like me to summarize it for you?" that seems to appear at the top of every pdf viewer now. NO. The *entire point* of good writing (either books or journal papers) is that every sentence has a purpose.

I had to go through and check lists of writers' credits for a bunch of our books for **reasons** today. Thinking about all the cool folks I've gotten to work with made me smile. ( ꈍ◡ꈍ)

We were also affected by this auto opt-in feature. Several of our PDFs had AI-generated alt text placed on images without us knowing, and a kind HPP community member informed us of the issue. The PDFs have since been amended. We are firmly against the use of generative AI in our work.
