a sincere effort is all you can ask.

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

forgot to follow this up bc i deactivated for a bit, but shortly after posting this i found out i had a dire thyroid situation and it was prob also why my hair started falling out for a bit too. i started taking iodine supplements and coincidentally the headaches and brain fog went away lol

i’ve been doing headache astrology all day to figure out whether i have the kind of problem i should probably see a doctor about pretty soon, or if it’s definitely CTE (even though i don’t know any of the symptoms and haven’t even looked it up).

I tried to go around this car that was parked in the middle of the brand new bike lane on Great Nth Rd, and managed to skid on the road bumpers in the rain or something and went absolutely flying. I’m quite bruised & was in shock, but otherwise ok. I do hope this cunt gets towed, however.

my grandad died this week at 96. he had a long and incredibly colourful life, outliving two daughters, a wife, and an ex wife. i wasn’t close to him- none of his grandchildren from his first marriage were, even tho we all tried- but it has always felt like he would live forever and i’m sad.

Hearing the actual radio interview of Gillibrand talking about Mamdani is so much more upsetting than just reading the transcript. Using violent language like “dagger to the throat” isn’t misspeaking, that’s a deeply intentional smear.

now whenever i see a really annoying post on here, i sign myself out of my account so that i can’t reply and say something that might get me suspended. i think this means i basically invented 3FA? by getting mad online?

The other night I went into my kitchen and jumped out of my skin a little bit to see a morepork staring straight at me from outside. Really special moment, I’ve never seen one irl before!

One of the things I do really like about Auckland after years of living in Wellington is that the weather gets good enough for people to have actual fruit trees in their yards, and for those fruit trees to actually grow fruit.

I genuinely think SSRIs have a side effect of making me immune to mosquito bites. I take a very low dose of fluoxetine for PMDD and I briefly forgot to fill my prescription earlier this summer and almost immediately got mosquito bites all over my arms and shoulders for the first time since 2008

I bought a bottle of oil yesterday afternoon and then yesterday evening while I was cooking dinner, it rolled off the bench and smashed on the kitchen tiles right at my feet. I feel good about this actually.

A tiled kitchen floor with a smashed glass bottle and a large pool (one whole litre by the way) of oil around it.
