What’s most interesting to me in this figure is that there is absolutely no convergence. You’d think that countries with lower LE to start would show greater improvements. Nope not in the slightest. Seems we haven’t hit the diminishing returns part of the longevity curve.

tl;dr: Between 2011 and 2019, life expectancy in England & Wales fell behind European peers. Slower improvements at younger and middle ages for cardiometabolic and external causes of death contributed the most to diverging life expectancy trends. 6/N

Your map’s legend can be turned into a histogram, helping your audience understand the distribution in addition to decoding the colours.

It’s true, people don’t think about the social cost of driving. Instead they mostly scream at the cyclists like they are the scum of the earth. I would love to see an estimate of the mortality cost of driving vs cycling (taking into account pollution, crashes, health benefits of exercise).

For the Australians, but also others interested in this issue: Australia's emissions data just saw its *biggest ever* land-use data revision. Except this time, it's UPWARDS: the same amount as power sector GHGs fell 2018->2026 (!!!!!) A thread on that + other updates from the data!

Why is Uber’s website so absolutely atrocious for seeing completed trips, downloading invoices and managing business accounts? Also I have a uber credit card charge that doesn’t appear anywhere on my uber account transaction history. Just a ghost charge. Wtf?!
