No tragedy on Ottawa streets is acceptable. We can get to Zero by demanding our governments designing transportation systems that put safety first. https://visionzeroottawa.ca/

Protected intersections are the standard. Moving away from that just because some disgruntled drivers who should probably go back to driving school complained is not a good path forward for the safety of our roads.

Yes it's fantastic that we made a lot of progress with adding bike lanes and wider sidewalks, but that still doesn't quite explain why we would undo safe infrastructure just because some people complained. We see where that gets us when looking at how Ford is treating speed cameras.

Missing from Minister Sarkaria’s media release: The WHO states “every 1% increase in mean speed produces a 4% increase in the fatal crash risk and a 3% increase in the serious crash risk.” The time savings are marginal. The higher risk is real. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Speed limits at several stretches of Ontario highways will be increasing to 110 km/h according to Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.

School Streets are finally coming to Ottawa 🚸 But the City is treating them as a traffic experiment—not the public health solution they are. High barriers. No funding. No plan to scale. Courage needs to come from city hall -not kids who walk or roll to school. visionzeroottawa.ca/2026/06/20/s...

School Streets in Ottawa: A Welcome Step—Set Up to Fail

School Streets are finally coming to Ottawa. A welcome step but not set up to succeed. We need city leadership to be courageous, not kids walking to school.

School Streets are coming to Ottawa 👏 finally. ✅ The good: safer, calmer streets for kids ⚠️ Needs improvement: a 2‑school pilot lacks ambition 🚨 Really needs improvement: process + cost barriers shouldn’t fall on communities Other cities are moving. Why aren’t we? www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/artic...
