UNBREAKING: We apologize for being overly dramatic with our previous breaking news. Turns out it wasn't all that.

Aside from sounding like Agent Smith talking about human batteries, it's also wrong in a very deliberate way. Books store information, the delivery system is 'reading'. Training AI doesn't store information, it converts it into metainformation. You destroy the source, the information is gone.
I don’t want to be too sensationalist about this but also I’m the least violent person in the world and I think if someone said this to my face I’d hit them
This little dude was based 1:1 on the Baby Yingliang fossil. The baby did never see the light of the day, but it's immortalised in art.
Look at them tiny babies
Pretty neat little curse spell: Put the face of the enemy on a tablet so they appear buried. Write their name on the space below. Then bury the whole thing above an existing tomb or grave.

WOW. I *think* this is a hummingbird hawk-moth.
Wanna see bees use tools? Sure you do. Especially if it's bumble bees and the tools are tiny balls they roll around on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc58...

My tiny small lil line work generally doesn't look that good at extreme close up to my eyes ( typical artist bullshit) but I like how this tiny bug turned out ( it isn't much bigger than a coin)

Bit unfortunate common name for a Wandering Spider. Wolf Spiders are nothing to worry about, Wandering Spiders can be... spicy.
A very nice tropical wolf spider (Ctenidae) that Catherine found, with a regenerated third leg on its left side. You can tell because the colouration is different.
beward of this cognitive hazard. don't say i didn't warn you
i've always loathed the song Karma Chameleon for reasons I've never quite been able to pin down, but one is surely that my mind appends a weird little brass fanfare onto part of the chorus every time I hear it. I don't know why, it just does. I will mock this up in Reaper at some point
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
I knew of trashline orbweavers that hide between debris, but this is the first time I see one building a retreat (with a door!) from silk and grains. Usually just something mygalomorphs / trapdoor spiders do.
a really awesome orb weaver found by Catherine, in the genus Spilasma (contains only three species). The beautifuuly structured retreat can be closed by the spider when it is threatened!
Topology teaches us that everything is either a sphere or a torus. Nature teaches us that everything is either a worm or a crab. For years, science has struggled to find a unified theory. While the Worm-Torus Equation was found early on, the Crab-Orb Conjecture still eludes us.
So, @cataranea.bsky.social and I went to Guyana over the past week (ish) to attend #BugShot, in the Rupununi Savannah, at Karanambu Lodge. You wanna see some pictures of what we saw?
