Sustaining supporters make a huge difference in Ward 4. Even just $5 a month has a real impact in our community, helping to provide groceries, diapers, cash, and other support for neighbors. Can't afford to give anything right now? Tell a few friends about Ward 4 Mutual Aid, instead. Links in bio.

Come say hi at @petworthmarket.bsky.social! We're talking with neighbors about mutual aid and making Ward 4 better for everyone.
The requests we get for utility debt support are sky high. People on fixed incomes cannot afford the hikes in utility bills. Did you know if you have a utility shutoff you can be considered out of compliance with your lease & be evicted?
NEW: When cold weather arrives, most people expect to see a bump in their utilities. But recently, many D.C. residents have been shocked to see their electricity bills had double and even triple — in some cases, climbing $1,000+ in a single month. What's going on? @samdelgado.bsky.social reports:
We’ve made it through most of a cold February, now come warm up with a night of community and conversation. See you there.
A devastating loss. And completely avoidable. May they rest in peace, they will be missed 🖤
4 people froze to death in DC because we turned our collective backs on them. Absolutely shameful. www.wusa9.com/article/weat...

NEWS: The D.C. Council just passed an emergency bill allowing anyone to get a COVID-19 vaccine without a doctor's prescription, which have been requested recently due to changes in federal vaccine recommendations. (And some D.C. residents have had to go to Maryland or Virginia.)
Got a #mutualaid request from a neighbor in need of some funds to make rent and get groceries. If you want to brighten up this dreary week by helping out, you can send some cash to Angel on Cashapp at $Angelluv35
A chance to combine community care and self care this weekend: come see us at the Petworth Farmers Market on Saturday for our #mutualaid bake sale! If you can’t make it, use the QR code below to donate today.
Grounded in the values of care and community, mutual aid has a storied history rooted in the work of the Black Panther Party, especially here in Washington, DC. These times call on us to come together and rise together. Join us: Sat Aug 23 11 - 4 St Mark's Episcopal Church (301 A St SE)
Ward 4, the start of the school year is almost here, and I'm grateful for all the neighbors and organizations committed to ensuring our students have what they need to succeed. Here are a few back-to-school giveaways happening soon, including one I am co-hosting tomorrow at Riggs-LaSalle Rec! 🎒✏️🏫
Looking forward to joining the #MutualAid fair next week. Come out and let’s support each other right now. We keep us safe in DC.
Washington, DC is our home, and we're proud to be here with one another, caring for each other and supporting our community. Join our mutual aid fair on August 23rd to share resources and support with your friends and neighbors. #WashingtonDC #MutualAid #MutualAidDC #MonumentCityMutualAid
Everyone deserves housing & support regardless of where they are from. But to be clear, the majority of people experiencing homelessness in DC were born & raised here. We have friends who slept in parks next to the apartments they grew up in.
We’re changing up our monthly meet-ups to the last Tuesday of every month. Come by Lyman’s Tavern next week for a chance to chat with neighbors and learn more about mutual aid. See you next Tuesday!
Washington, D.C., has a population roughly equivalent to Alaska's. And it has zero senators. If D.C. had senators, the GOP megablil bill would have failed today. Instead, Murkowski got carve-outs and money for Alaska, and then voted to subject DC to the bill
Good opportunity to be in community at Takoma Park’s 4th of July parade tomorrow. @freedcproject.bsky.social will have a contingent representing our local values and community at a moment when the US is doing horrible things without DC’s voice being heard.
Hey DC folks, are you pissed off that we didn’t even get a say in the horrific BBB? 1) If you haven’t been to a @freedcproject.bsky.social orientation yet, find one and go! freedcproject.org/events 2) If you have, talk to your neighbors and invite them to join! 3) DM me for more info!
Celebrate Juneteenth this week in community with your neighbors. We’ll be hosting our monthly mutual aid meet-up at Lyman’s on Thursday from 7-9pm. See you there!
