Yes, I'm that Neil Waytowich. Representing only myself with no affiliations. I curse often and trigger conservatives. Neil Before Zod from Twitter. I help idiots become self-aware.

It is about time that the Canadian government ends subsidies for foreign owned news organizations in Canada and exclusion from the Canadian Journalism Labour Tax Credit, Canadian Periodical Fund, Digital News Subscription Tax Credit, and the Canada Media Fund. Keep Canadian media Canadian.

I can tell you exactly why conservative support has cratered amongst the Canadian electorate. It is realization that conservative parliamentarians represent Pierre Polievre first, and not the people who elected them.

The Edmonton Oilers are one of the biggestt disgraces in professional sports. They have a habit of doing awful things from Virtanen, Bowman, Babcock, and now Alex Formenton as recent examples. Oilers next:

It’s mind-blowing that we have literal white nationalists in the White House carrying out unfathomably cruel, abusive, white nationalist policies, and the punditariat has spent the last two weeks debating if some people were too intemperate after a Black man was murdered by cops six years ago.

La langue française est inscrite dans l’ADN du Canada, elle fait partie de notre identité et de notre patrimoine. Plus important encore, elle fait partie de notre avenir. Note can pot dictateur comme Donald Trump ne va pas changer cela. Allez faire vos affaires ailleurs.

Trump imposed tariffs. Canada retaliated. Trump retaliated to the retaliation. Canada just retaliated to the retaliation on the retaliation. Also there's an existing free trade agreement binding both of these countries. It all feels so dumb.

This trade war just shows how irrelevant Pierre Polievre and the conservative party of Canada has become. They are completely absent from this national conversation. Other than trying to score political points, that is.

Americans hear "51st state" as Trump trolling. Canadians hear it as an existential threat to their sovereignty. That gap in perception is why Carney can't afford to look conciliatory, even if the economics of retaliation don't add up. This isn't just a trade war anymore.
