Funny how the startle response and instinct for fear can be so easily bypassed with sufficient knowledge. By which I mean I still had a moment of freaking out when my bathroom spider startled rapidly advancing directly towards me, but then I also had an entire one-sided conversation with it?

Ollie is making squawking little meows at the foot of my bed, first a scolding one because I coughed and then, I think, because he was having a weird dream. He keeps making little flailing motions in his sleep, too.

I love that Luffy's crew is stolen. Arguably they all were from a different crew or at least flying a Jolly Roger before Luffy got them. I mean, Zoro was a Pirate Hunter rather than a pirate, but he still sailed, dealt with pirates, and was a member of a kind of crew with Johnny and Yosaku first.

It will be worse than this! Most websites will be forced to ask you to send your ID to a third party surveillance service, adding a credit card won't be enough for most. Bluesky asks for your *social security number* if you live in Texas now, due to this shit. Call in, and kill it.

This will be the US if the SCREEN Act passes. Call your Senators before August 5 and tell them that you oppose the SCREEN Act, KOSA, and the KIDS Act. Use the official lookup tool at www.senate.gov/senators/sen... to find yours by state.

There's something bugging me about The East Palace. First episode, Gu Cheon is full of explanations for all these different types of spooky beings, but it's presented as if nobody else he meets knows much about spirits. So who taught HIM? Has he passed over so often he invented whole taxonomies?!

I keep thinking today about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack had a small but useful farm. As farmers often do, he undertook to sell some of the livestock from that farm in a way that would help the farm and the people depending on it to keep surviving.

If I ever have the supreme good fortune to have a custom gaming table, I'm gonna need to make sure that it has pull out cup holders for multiple cups per seat. The ADHD at the table today was so strong that I think at one point there were a dozen cups on the table at once. There were only 4 of us.

Currently reading a One Piece long fic that is engaging but weirdly ignorant of so many details from the story that I am genuinely wondering if the author ever actually read or watched it. Like it's set post time skip but for example they haven't adjusted how many eyes certain characters have?

the reality of binghe breaking into the holy mausoleum is sooo funny to me. like the mausoleum is built above ground it’s not an underground structure. binghe crashed a rhino thru the roof. listen to me. he needed 200 of them. listen

And then class, humanity poured all its resources, its water, its books, the very air they breathed, into making the magic money machine and as we all know this started the second dark age as the machine did in fact, not do anything useful

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

You can laugh at me for over designing my campaign setting all you like, but when the PCs decide they want to go traversing the sewers, I know exactly how the city handles its waste, and why it doesn't interact with the fresh water so much, and why they can't just stroll through massive tunnels.

Returning home to the yowls and curious sniffing of my cat... Me, out loud, exhausted: Yes, Ollie, my feet DO smell different now. It's because I went to the beach, you see, and now they smell like millions of years of fish. And salt. And rocks. It's a layered experience.

One week left until I have to start living alone, and I am frankly terrified. Living alone has been bad for me every single time I have done it. I have a friend visiting for a couple weeks in September and am trying to line up other visits, but it's truly overwhelming to face an empty home.

Hey, did you know that my birthday is in a week and a fantastic way to celebrate is by writing things? So long as they are not about the wizard franchise. That fucker has monopolized my birthday for TOO LONG, and I am finally making progress in reclaiming my birthday so don't blow it for me now!

There is no canon to support this, but in my head Mobei Jun is a secret bibliophile with a rich inner voice. He just never sounds like that out loud because he is also an extremely awkward duckling, a thing Shang Qinghua has not noticed because he's so determined to think of Mobei Jun as cool.

Owwww. It is a testament to how much I fucking hate the tile in this kitchen that I have injured my back doing acrobatics to stretch back and align sticker tiles over it not once but TWICE in the last two months. (The second time was because the tile is so dimensional the stickers wouldn't stick.)

I feel like people forget, thanks to Shen Yuan's Binghe goggles, that Luo Binghe is NOT actually the protagonist of SVSSS. He's not even really the deuteragonist.* Luo Binghe is the protagonist of PIDW, a book that does not exist. Shen Yuan is the protagonist of SVSSS. Do not fall for his lies.

A surprisingly rare pair that I enjoy rotating in my brain sometimes is Nie Mingjue/Wen Qing. It's a shame they barely if ever met in canon, because there's actually a lot for them to respect about each other and have in common, and I genuinely believe their union could have Fixed Things.
