This thread is about GenAI. This might be the first time in the last century or so that tech has produced magic beans so many people are vehemently opposed to buying. We don't actually WANT to become Jack. We want to enjoy life with our loved ones, with enough to eat and a bit left over to share.

The worst is when you don't understand it yourself, when you develop a chronic illness and suddenly things that seemed easy (keeping the house tidy, keeping yourself clean) are like a mountain in front of you. It's just so difficult to comprehend and adjust.

I don't think people quite understand chronic illness, what it's like to "wake up tired" but still have a million things to do. Deciding where to invest your energy as you're operating on 20% of what everyone else has. Even the most basic stuff like washing yourself or making a meal is draining.

I keep thinking today about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack had a small but useful farm. As farmers often do, he undertook to sell some of the livestock from that farm in a way that would help the farm and the people depending on it to keep surviving.

My brain last night decided to invent an alien poetic form in my dreams, but then I woke up just as I was learning the particulars. I am genuinely devastated that I cannot remember any of it. I was so excited to be learning it!

This is also applicable to people.

Why do I say "it's not the butter" when I'm talking about animal illnesses? When Alice was nearing the end, she really stopped eating. Like, entirely. Her stomach was full of cancer, and food held no appeal. But she still liked to get up on the counter and lick the butter.

My dad read this book with me when I was 7, and it is what turned me into a reader. The first time he read it to me with voices, the second time I read it by myself. The teacher called me a liar about it when I turned in the form for the pizza book thing, an insult I still remember 35 years later.

I've moved internationally, and had to downsize multiple times. I think the oldest thing I use FREQUENTLY is a jewelry box from the end of the 19th century. It's got my pendants in it, and I wear a lot of those. Most of my stuff is still around a decade old at least, though? I don't LIKE updating.

My plant babies are doing so well! The thyme is popping up all over, the basil has gone bonkers, and the coriander is coming up leggy but it is still coming up. I have also planted peppermint and chives this week, it remains to be seen how they'll do.

I was gone all day on a quick trip up to Seoul, and Ollie is attempting to convince me that he has been woefully neglected the entire time I was gone. This is a blatant falsehood, as the housemate kept me updated all day on spoiling him, but Ollie doesn't understand that we cheat by using phones.
