Somebody shared Costa's starter pack or something! Hi new followers. I am a professional building energy efficiency/pollution reduction regulation nerd working in the US but I must warn you that 80%+ of my posts on here are about gardening w/eastern US native plants (and the bugs that enjoy them).

Not great photographs of an incredibly cool moment. We were trundling along the tundra when a bald eagle flew over and landed on a tamarack. It must have been near their nest because two short-eared owls immediately started bombarding it. This went on for quite a while until the eagle left. #birds 🌿

Went on a tear explaining/ranting about this to two friends last night. The conversation concluded with the idea that Thiel and Zuck (and presumably Musk, Altman, etc.) will end up alone together in the digital afterlife and the rest of the world will choose natural mortality rather than join them.

I keep saying this in replies so I will say it on main, like the cringe, fringe earnestposter I am: I think the tech oligarchs supporting this mess are ok with it bc they're not angling for durable prosperity - they're angling for the abandonment of reality for a world they operate and control.

In CrossFit there is this thing, the "CrossFit Total," which is the sum of the heaviest back squat, strict press, and deadlift you can manage in 10 minutes each, back to back. (Usually. The over-org just ran a community event that managed timing differently.)

I regret to report that the company we hired to install heat pumps at the New York house did some pretty unwise things electrical-wise. Like, easy stuff that should be fast to fix, but it was just left undone. Exposed bus bar. Why can't people just be good at their jobs, man
