Okay, so what are the logistics of *playing* Big Walk? I assume I don't need a set of N friends who *all* commit to playing for 18 hours... What happens if the same people can't all play every time? Does progress reside with one individual? What happens when somebody needs to log off for a while?

mario has 5 "sensor pixels" used for physics... his feet pixels check for solid ground to land on, of course. the side pixels check for walls, and eject him outward. the head pixel checks for bonking against a ceiling. if his head misses a block but his side enters it, he gets nudged sideways

London is a nice place with many lovely people. I had a good weekend. It had trains. Underground. Buses. Walking through the city. Girlfriend. Video game. Parks. Many new friends. Tasty food. Lego. Rectangles. BASIC. Walking in the dark. Man who liked my accent. Lunch with colleagues. Shark pen.

I've been reverse-engineering / porting Super Mario Bros. to C++ to understand how it works on the inside! I guess this looks exactly like an emulator but it's not, the "RAM" is recreated from internal state

Are any of you good at memorising diceware passwords? I currently use a mix of diceware and some randomly generated letters, numbers and symbols, for the few passwords I can't delegate to a password manager, and when I change a password it's the words that I really struggle to memorise.

Ceave Gaming: Is it possible to complete Mario Galaxy without ever incurring the ire of a wrathful God. Pannenkoek2012: A-maze-ing Emergency Exit in zero consoles. <your mind wanders after 30 minutes of prefatory setup. a distant y-y-y-y-yahoo and mario erupts backwards out of your hollow chest>

Is anyone out there having a *good* Duck Duck Go experience? I have it set as my default search engine at work still but almost every search I end up redoing with !g to get the Google results instead. And it's not like Google is good, it's just not *quite* as bad.

Capacitative touch controls on my venerable noise cancelling headphones appear to have gone berserk so I guess I'm finally going to have to replace them.

one thing trans sports bans have clarified for me is how detrimental it is that every level of sport is seen as a pipeline to elite competition trans people should be included at all levels, but also standards for elite competition should have no bearing on how we move our bodies with our friends

God I hate the macOS desktop. Used to be not bad but it is just so janky these days, and has been for a couple of years. It does this every time I unplug from external monitors. The desktops are the wrong size. Windows go permanently missing. It's worse than Windows managed to be.

A macOS desktop. A smaller blue rectangle sits in the top-left corner, about 85% the width and height of the screen, and the dock sits at the bottom of this rectangle. Behind, below and on the right, is a black void. The menu bar spills off the blue rectangle and into the void. The dock is full of office and software-dev apps.

MULDER [slapping down plane tix]: Hope you packed your rain coat, Scully. SCULLY: Seattle? Mulder it's the weekend, what- MULDER [handing her a file] Confirmed sightings, Scully. This is big SCULLY [eyes wide]: My God Mulder, what am I looking at here? MULDER: The locals are calling it.. JIMOTHY

I do experience a certain amount of dissonance simultaneously trying to hold "Manchester is not the north" and "People vote, not land". Like, I do hate feeling like an afterthought but at the same time I am pretty sure everyone living there is in the northernmost half of the population of the UK.

Does bluesky have any search operators to search replies of a specific post (transitively)? E.g. a post goes viral and has hundreds of replies, many spawning off their own conversation threads. Can I scope a search to this tree? Or to the top level replies or to everything under the same root?

Is colour theory actually real or kinda like numerology? Like, the colour wheels seem kinda arbitrary. Is yellow opposite purple, or blue? Is green opposite red or orange? What's the right amount of the wheel to dedicate to green-blues or to purples? Are the blue-purples nearly black for no reason?

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

There's this old TEDx video with a guy explaining how to dry your hand with one paper towel and it kinda drives me crazy because there's no real theory behind it. Shake your hands a lot (okay) and fold the towel in half. I think one side of the folded towel is in contact with each hand.

In Sonic the Hedgehog, if you hold down a button during the attract and ending sequence demos, Sonic cannot jump and it desyncs. Just as the demo fades out this pole in a Labyrinth Zone water current snaps. Can this be seen in normal play?

Sonic clinging to a vertical underwater pole in a carved stone labyrinth, as a strong current pulls him right onto spikes. The pole has snapped in the middle.
