roterote@roterote.bsky.social · 4d agoAll of these people signed from Universities around the world. This is a clear example how easily it was for Nazi Academics to take over the academy in the 1930s and 1940s. People will defend people whose views would see them all destroyed and most in camps.
In an address at West Jerusalem’s Gush Katif Museum, Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Yosef denied that Palestinians exist as a people and said they ‘have no rights’. He also claimed Gaza and occupied West Bank cities for Jews and called for Gaza’s destruction and Jewish settlement.
Also worth noting these advisories are similar to the Norwegian advisory that was issued in late 2024 after the ICJ ruling— Norway's gov is now developing an actual comprehensive trade ban. So it follows that these Anglo countries + France should ban trade as well.
The recent re-upping by the UK, Canada, France etcetera of soft legal advisories against businesses engaging in settlement construction, transactions with settler companies, etc is noteworthy but it is not a replacement for a full ban on trade with settlement goods and services
