Congratulations to Abdul El-Sayed & to Michigan for putting in the hard work to overcome big money! We have a huge fight ahead but I have faith in our ability to fight for a better future for the American people! Abdul would be the first Public Health official in the Senate! #DoBetter #Pinks

Abdul El-Sayed wins Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, notching a Midwest victory for the left

The former public health official has defeated Rep. Haley Stevens, NBC News projects, despite facing a huge advertising disadvantage.

One more thing: Go ahead and use that anti-AIPAC energy against Mike Rogers if you want to, but you’ll find it won’t work as well in the general election against a Republican. And he’ll have a massive corporate-funded war chest that El-Sayed will need to compete against.

Let’s level set. MICHIGAN is a must-win if we want to flip the Senate. A word caution: This race was tighter than many predicted. El-Sayed needs Stevens supporters in the general, so it’s not smart strategy to keep them angry. Welcome them. Focus on issues. Time is short, so healing must be quick

I couldn’t be prouder of the movement we’ve built in mid-Michigan. Thank you, Ambassador Bridget Brink and Matt Maasdam, for your years of public service and all your hard work on the campaign trail. While tonight we celebrate, there’s still much more work ahead.

Thank you @bridgetbrink.com and @mattmaasdam.bsky.social for stepping up and being in this race. MI07 had great people to choose from and though it didn't go your way, the race was better for being truly competitive. Let's go beat Tom Barrett now! 💙

Congratulations to @wewill2026.bsky.social on his win tonight and for running a strong, inspiring grassroots campaign. Now we come together as one to take on Tom Barrett and work to elect a leader who will listen and fight for what matters most to our community here in mid-Michigan. 3/3

To fight to lower costs, make health care more affordable, and protect our democracy from the assault of Donald Trump. I’m so grateful to each and every person who was with us every step of the way. Thank you. 2/3

While tonight’s result wasn’t the one we wanted, I’m incredibly proud of the relentless, hard fought campaign we ran. I dedicated my life to serving our country and fighting for our values—freedom and democracy—and that’s exactly what this campaign was about. To ensure the promise of our nation. 1/3

Talarico’s argument is simple: Stop treating marijuana like a crime. Legalize it. Regulate it. Tax it. Stop wasting police resources on low-level marijuana offenses. Clear the records of people whose lives have been derailed by nonviolent marijuana convictions.

Nearly $70 million in outside spending was deployed against Abdul El-Sayed, while Gretchen Whitmer, Debbie Stabenow, Gary Peters, Dana Nessel and almost the entire Michigan Democratic establishment lined up behind his opponent. He won anyway.

“I will not stand beside someone who has allowed distinctly anti-American sentiment to enter our public dialogue.”—Rep. Hillary Scholten, D-Mich. So much for "vote blue no matter who." Wild how Stevens took $60M in dark money from a foreign lobby, but its the brown guy Scholten calls anti-American

Thank you, MICHIGAN! I'm so proud to be your Democratic nominee for Governor of Michigan. I'm ready to fight for your future — costs down, wages up, rights protected, and a government that works for all of us.
