Its quite hard to know what, exactly, will actually lose someone their licence if 59 points, driving while disqualified and no insurance doesn't. Its not juat dangerous - its clear contempt for the law. We should treat car crime like any other crime
"I'm getting fed up with getting pulled by you guys, so this one will result in a complaint," says the driver with 59 points on his licence. 59 points, and still driving, and he didn't go to prison. The system is broken. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Astonishing that JB, who has dedicated her life to campaigning against gender-based violence and the exploitation of women, should have a good word to say for a man who hit his girlfriend and joked about sleeping with teenage girls, simply because he happened to agree with her on That One Issue.
Kathleen Stock and Julie Bindle over on the other site calling Rod Liddle a "great man"
@vickyfoxcroftmp.bsky.social Hi Vicky, hope you're well! Please see this thread ⬇️ about potentially dangerous problems at Lewisham station (eg broken help point) which are being handled really badly! (All of which reminds me to beg @heidialexander.bsky.social to devolve our metro services to TfL 🙏🏻)
Wow @serailway.bsky.social, Lewisham station is in a seriously dangerous position at the moment – on platform 4 not only is the lift STILL out of order, but so is the help point, and it doesn't even have a sign on it despite apparently being down for weeks now, it just rings and rings and then stops

The BBC radio news bulletin at 8:30 summarised Labour thrashing Reform with double their vote in Greater Manchester as "[Bev Craig] won with 300,000 first- and second-preference votes; Reform UK came second."
Lol at Reform earlier claiming credit for forcing it to a second round for the first time, I'm not sure any party except Labour has much to be excited about when Labour are getting 47% of first preferences! (Not lol at nearly 1 in 10 voters choosing openly racist Restore though)
Manchester mayoral results, first round Bev Craig - Labour 47% (+24 vs local elections) Reform 21% (-10) Green 12% (-7) Restore 9% (new) Conservative 8% (-3) Lib Dem 3% (-7)
BREAKING: Labour's Bev Craig wins the Greater Manchester Mayoral Election, defeating Reform by a landslide after the second round LAB: Bev Craig: 309,525 (66%) REF: Sian Astley: 157,178 (33%)
For the uninitiated a visualised podcast is when you make a TV show but put microphones in front of the people who are speaking

Cabinet Secretary has emailed civil servants to thank them for their help with the transition to the new government, and for simultaneously continuing "the relentless delivery of public services to citizens". Civil servants constantly bombarding citizens with services, whether they need them or not
Me looking at a Q on r/onlyconnect about a sequence of things happening in some film or other: I hate Qs that don't dip into different topic areas for the different clues, you can't do them without specific niche knowledge! Me looking at a Q entirely about London borough names: 10/10, no notes 👏🏻
That's the green light "from September" – the trains themselves won't arrive until plenty more summers have been endured in the existing airconless ovens first
Southeastern may get the green light for new trains from September. Maybe. Possibly. Down to the DfT and Treasury so fingers crossed. www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2026/07/30/d...

Elon Musk, owner of X, has called the editor of the Economist "a traitor to the West, plain and simple" after her recent interview with him. He now argues that "anyone who opposes remigration is a traitor" Musk has been socialising violence since Aug25: "fight or die, that's what it comes down to"
In Cardiff for the weekend with no fixed plans. Anything we can't miss?
I'm old enough to just about remember going up Downing Street with my parents to look across at the door of Number 10, because the road was open to the public back then. Interesting that No. 10 North isn't sealed off… Will they unseal South or rethink North's openness at some point, I wonder 🤔
The front of Central Library is ALSO a hotbed of protest activity almost every weekend, especially for Palestine - intrigued as to whether that'll carry on unfettered now the PM has digs just around the corner.
Insane new research. Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve, ditching gas was *better than medicine.* Details in today's newsletter: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-s...
Researchers used electric stoves to treat asthma. It worked.
The latest evidence that gas is bad for your health.

The arrests were for breach of a non-molestation order and alleged rape, he wasn't a known terror threat The fact al-Shamie's phones were not examined and he remained out on bail at the time of the 2 October 2025 attack tells its own story about the handling of sexual offence and domestic abuse
