Why is it always the stuff that works perfectly well without a glitch that doesn't survive? I've been happily using OSF for all our open science / raw data storage to accompany publications, and am very sad to see that go. Surely some billionaire should be able to keep OSF in business?

Personally, I was leaning towards the romantic/apocalyptic idea of academics becoming Guardians of the Truth, in an era where facts are debatable and photos/videos show you things that never really happened, but the first integrity crusaders are fighting fraud from within. Scientists pays the bill.

I’ve taken such good care of my work iMac that it can’t be updated anymore & now Microsoft Teams warns me I can no longer use the Teams app as my operating system is too old, but I am a scientist so I have no budget for a new computer so I guess I will just always work from my personal laptop now?

Climate change finally caught up with my sustainable lifestyle: It's 37 degrees (Celsius, obviously) in Amsterdam and I am wearing a vintage GAP tanktop that I bought somewhere around 2004 while visiting a friend in Houston, Texas.

Get peer reviews independent of a journal, then submit with reviews in hand to a stable of excellent journals from across non-profit and society publishers. Review Commons: good for what ails ya.
What I don’t understand is that everyone was worried about future AI being biased because of training data and yet we globally rolled out all sorts of tools (that I also use) that show just that. Or is my algorithm biased towards reports of such biases in the passed few days? Which also QED…

It's still there in the "Frankencitations" and those little linguistic "tells" like "AI is not the cause. It's the symptom of an underlying reality." But it's more, too. 1/
Well there goes the rest of whatever Frontiers still had left as a reputation… (I personally stopped publishing in and editing/reviewing for Frontiers and MDPI journals ~5 yrs ago, because while some individual papers are definitely up to standard - the whole editorial process/experience was not)

I like my job, but some of my better life decisions of 2026 have been to 1) take time off hike the Cotswolds way and 2) see Harry Styles at the Amsterdam Arena. Bucket list events should not be postponed. Also: I think I might be very good at retirement.
Champagne ready to pop as we finally got the official acceptance of our paper in which we dissected the WNT4 enhancer landscape in the mammary gland. Yay! Details to follow once the paper is available via Cell Reports in its final lay out!
I guess I should be nothing but happy that a paper is moving through the acceptance pipeline, but seriously - the amount of menial editing stuff journals are making authors do is insane.
