A friend of mine took this pic a few years ago of a local station’s error. He sadly died earlier this year. While this isn’t exactly his legacy, it left a huge mark. So everyone please turn your cocks back tonight for Mike.

Hm? HLS and servicing the launch industry isn’t a priority for SpaceX’s Starship? That’s the news? Heh, oookay, I guess for some people that’s news.

The really exciting hoped-for find will be a dwarf planet in an orbit with low inclination, in the cold classical belt. Why don't we have any there? It's still a mystery!
This is the cleanup we were expecting from the challenging job of scouring the plane of the Galaxy for TNOs over the last decade or two. Also, it's a weak distant resonant TNO: exactly as expected from dynamical excitation through Neptune migration 🔭
Meet our Solar System's newest dwarf planet candidate: 2026 ED138! Orbiting past Pluto, scientists found it in NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory data from earlier this year. Early analysis suggests it's ~600–1500 km across, one of the largest found past Neptune!🔭🧪 🔗: rubinobservatory.org/news/rubin-f...
Carol Raymond—Over a decade since Dawn left Vesta, we’re still learning from the data. New gravity analysis suggests Vesta is less differentiated than originally thought, with more gradational structure and magmatic intrusions. #DPS2026

A New Era for Space Launch? The Coming Falcon 9 Retirement
Falcon 9’s retirement could leave the market up for grabs, as SpaceX finds themselves still in the process of developing and marketing Starship as a worthy successor.

MMX Lifts Off on Mission to Explore Moons of Mars
The five-year mission will return samples from Mars’ moon Phobos and answer long-standing questions about the moon’s origin.

And Lift Off! A glorious launch of #MMX, the start of an amazingly awesome 5 yr round trip to Mars' moon Phobos. 1yr to get there, 3yrs exploration landing on the surface (twice), then 1yr to get home with the bounty (2tbls of Phobos dust), arriving in the Australian outback in 2031! 🥳🔭🧪🛰️🚀

My phd office-mate Mark Hollands has spent years working out what colour some weird stars would appear as to the human eye, and finally has a paper out! Most notably... one is green! #astrosci 🔭 arxiv.org/abs/2610.18966
this company will show off literally anything other than the HLS landing thrusters
If you told me the age old question "why are there no green and purple stars" would some day be answered with "well no, there are green and purple st(ell)ar (remnant)s" I wouldn't believe you. How are we going to teach kids about blackbody radiation now?????

Ha! Here’s a joke mission patch for a Jupiter rover I sketched back in 2017.

Many are tempted to think of Red Dwarfs like a more active, smaller version of the Sun. But with a low mass, fully convective interior, slow rotation, and high gravity, I wanted to imagine what kinds of features might exist on such a star. I am not an astrophysicist, of course haha.
A little speculative stellar art… what if other stars are more different than we expect?
This is one of my favorite things I've ever made. I really wanted to make something that conveyed the scale of a supermassive black hole and the disks that surround them.
For now, here's a fun doodle I did awhile back, depicting an interpretation of a spurious moon of Venus, Neith, which was once reported by astronomers way back in the 17th century. Obviously, it is well known today that Venus does not actually have any natural satellites. Still fun to draw!
