Councillor @alexmace.bsky.social poses the question here as to why the homes so badly needed in Worcester aren’t being built even when developers own the land: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GLF...
Why don't house builders want to build houses?

Let's not forget he is funding some of pledges by raiding the international aid budget. We need to spend more on aid so that countries are safer and don't have a stream of refugees leaving, and get countries off expensive fossil fuels by sponsoring renewable projects.
Very disappointing from the new Prime Minister, very much sounding like the previous PM. These are among the world’s most vulnerable and desparate people. They need safe routes and humanity from responsible politicians, not grandstanding. This isn’t doing politics differently.

Less time imitating Farage in Dover and more time addressing the fact that our food and water supplies are in crisis, please, Andy Burnham.
BBC News reporting on concerns about food security and water security We can all see the food and water crisis unfolding, why isn't our government doing everything possible to protect these two precious resources, our food and water supply?
The lack of clear communication from our governments about the threats from climate & nature breakdown leaves a vacuum - into which vested interests are pouring disinformation. Governments can’t sit this out and “leave it to the market”. www.nebriefing.org/parliamentar...

Too right!
As Trump drives oil prices higher, half of England is in drought, and wildfires rage across Europe, the idea of drilling for more fossil fuels is completely bonkers. If Burnham goes ahead with this is shows he doesn't have the backbone to lead. www.theguardian.com/politics/...
It’s truly shocking that Burnham is even considering this. Is he really that ignorant of the situation we’re in and the urgent need to tackle the climate crisis? Or does the fossil fuel lobby have his ear *already*? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Well done to councillors @alexmace.bsky.social and @neillaurenson.bsky.social who funded a new defibrillator and worked alongside a local residents’ group to arrange its installation 😊💚 www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/2641875...

Councillor Alex Mace and Councillor Neil Laurenson donated community funds to pay for a new defibrillator in Hardy Court.

Everywhere I look today I keep seeing: 1) deadly wildfires ripping through our communities 2) people desperately trying to get by as energy costs soar 3) record oil & gas profits When will we see that these three things are connected? www.wsj.com/business/ene...
Big Oil Is Reaping Rewards From the Chaos in Energy Markets
ExxonMobil’s earnings doubled and Chevron posted its highest quarterly earnings on record as energy prices soared during the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Worcester misses out again in Andy Burnham's blitz of new powers and funding for regional Mayors.
As Europe burns, Shell has banked £7.4 billion in just three months. It's time to make the biggest polluters pay.
Brighton has been truly parched, and meanwhile water infrastructure crumbles. In 37 years since privatisation, not one new major reservoir for England. In the 35 years before that, nearly 100 major reservoirs were created. The new PM must renationalise water as a matter of urgency.
Given our consistent engagement on the adult social care crisis and willingness to work together to solve it, it's deeply disappointing that the Greens weren't invited to today's cross-party talks. We need all hands on deck to tackle this issue - the Greens remain ready to work cross-party to do so.
The NFU is right. This is the new climate reality. It doesn't matter whether people believe it's climate change. It won't care when we run out of water, food costs rocket & wildfires spread. We need a Climate Adaptation Minister to lead cross-govt action www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

“Andy Burnham must surely now reach the obvious conclusion that water should be brought back into public ownership, as the Green party would do, so that any money raised goes back into the system, not into shareholders’ pockets and excessive executive pay.” 🗣 @adrianramsay.bsky.social
Half of the country is in "exceptionally serious drought" - putting us at more risk of wildfires and threatening our food security. Meanwhile water companies are wasting a staggering 2.87 billion litres of water every day through leaky pipes. Time to end water privatisation.
Whilst the cost of living crisis continues to spiral, with food and fuel prices soaring, so do global oil and gas companies profits. Shell has today announced it's profits have more than doubled. This is obscene. www.reuters.com/business/ene...

"For us" - who do Labour mean when they say "for us"?
Labour chose this... On Thursday, we can choose better. Vote Green first in Greater Manchester 💚
Britain's most persecuted minority ... according to The Daily Telegraph's front page ... Millionaires. It's clear who they are here to serve. No wonder they hate Greens for unashamedly calling for wealth to be taxed fairly. Let's make it happen join.greenparty.org.uk
Our county has joined those now officially in drought. The last rainfall was 0.4mm in Crowle on 22nd June. Food security, biodiversity and water supplies are in serious dangerWhere’s the sense of urgency from our government? www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/2641967...

For decades, governments have been asleep at the wheel, and the consequences are going to be worse than anything we have ever experienced. We need profound change now.
Food growers & farmers are increasingly experiencing climate breakdown harvests That means higher prices - and more food insecurity. Politicians have been quiet on this growing crisis - but silence isn't good enough when our food supply is at risk. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

So true - meanwhile we’ve had wildfires here in the UK in Derbyshire, North Wales, the Cairngorms, London, the South Downs, to name but a few… it’s very much a global problem that includes us.
I'm noticing the UK media report the wildfires as if it is some foreign problem. They used to do the same about unbearable heatwaves...
Wildfires are tearing across the continent and here in the UK as well. This is what climate breakdown looks like. It's time our governments stopped fuelling the crisis and started tackling it.
While the UK government’s new PM mulls over opening new oil and gas drilling… Labour *still* cannot be trusted on climate. join.greenparty.org.uk
The illegal war in Iran should do a lot more than "concern" Andy Burnham. And if he's not holding back - when is he going to tell Donald Trump that the UK wants nothing to do with this war and to ban the US military from UK soil?
We need rent controls now !!!! What’s the point of building flats no one can realistically afford to live in.
Burnham wants to do what he did in Greater Manchester for the whole of the UK? But what does that mean for the people - not the property developers? Its time to end Rip off Britain. Join.greenparty.org.uk
