Usually, in my books, someone, somewhere, is a genuine good person, a real hero.... But in this fantasy romance, NO ONE'S A HERO. Everyone has flaws, no one is an ideal example of humanity, and, I think it's incredibly fitting.

So I THOUGHT I broke 70k in my WIP last night, only to realize that a chapter needed to be relocated, and after rewriting that section I MIGHT BE a FEW HUNDRED WORDS SHY! Here's hoping I can celebrate the milestone today.

LIKE TRUMP/MILLER, ALL ICE AGENTS ARE LOSERS! Many are scared racists, White Nationalist ”Patriot Front, KKK, Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boys, Neo-NAZIS; too full of Trump’s fear/hate/lies to know that THEY’re the true criminals, NOT the innocent families they destroy. Some are just soulless opportunists.

At 22h30, July 11, 2026, I wrote FIN on the latest draft of The Demon Sword's Wife, an alternate-historical, urban-fantasy that tries to strike a note against misogyny, bigotry, racism and fascism. Here's hoping I can do some good, from my place of privilege.

SYNOPSIS Liliana Velasco can only think of herself as a rebel, a legally-wrong-but-moralistically-correct criminal, but when she accepts an offer from two strangers to break her out of jail she finds herself fighting not only for the freedom of refugees fleeing the fascist US of A, but also for the two inhuman undead who have been manipulating her bloodline for centuries. Pursued by religious zealots and law-disregarding agencies, Liliana must decide whether to accept the guilt of her ancestors, or break the promise and condemn the desperate to undeserving torment. Either way, she’s headed to Hell in a hand basket, but at least she gets to chose how she gets there.

In superhero stories, crime fighting often gets in the way of something else, like their relationship or their day job. But the other thing is never a hobby.
