Anna Cavazzini@annacavazzini.bsky.social · 7mo agoWährend Trump gerade 90 Min. in Davos gepredigt hat, haben wir im @inta.europarl.europa.eu die Umsetzung des EU-US-Abkommens ausgesetzt. Nach den neusten Zollandrohungen war klar: Das unausgewogene Abkommen kann so nicht weiterverhandelt werden. Wir müssen jetzt das Anti-Zwangsinstrument einleiten.
EU Mercosur agreement is a big deal for the Mercosur countries. Many people in the region are enthusiastic about it, especially those who believe in Mercosur as an important initiative to unite democratic countries of South America. EU finally made positive headlines, now this embarrassment🤦♂️
Thirdly, the majority, as visualised in this graph, was more what I would call a 'horseshoe majority' - the bulk of the votes for delay/referal to ECJ came from far-left, Greens and far-right, while centre-left and centre-right voted largely against the referal.
Very embarrising day for EU. It is incomprehensible how parliamentarians, precisely on the days when Trump is reaching out to Greenland, fail to understand what is at stake.

Das @europarl.europa.eu hat gar nichts blockiert - das EU-Mercosur-Abkommen tritt nun vorläufig in Kraft. Das ist ein übliches Verfahren.

Balancing ocean health and economic growth: The role of sustainability metrics in the EU
The EU’s Blue Growth Strategy emphasises leadership in blue energy and progress in sectors such as aquaculture and blue biotechnology. However, challenges remain in accounting for marine ecosystem contributions and assessing the degree of inclusive blue growth. This column distinguishes between weak sustainability, which allows for trade-offs between dimensions of blue growth, and strong sustainability, which emphasises balance across dimensions. Obstacles to blue growth include insufficient economic growth in blue economy sectors and environmental problems like eutrophication. Future efforts should target such specific problems while supporting promising blue economy innovations.
