I am under attack [ant in my bed and spider on my laptop] I love spiders. But not surprise spiders close to my skin!

In rereading my WIP I came across the perfect scene to put a piece of exposition I've been struggling to place. Wishing you all a similar moment in things coming together. #writesky #writingcommunity
Statement from the HWA Board of Trustees: The Executive Leadership and Trustees on the Board of the Horror Writers Association has voted to remove Sephera Giron from her position as Trustee effective immediately.
May I offer you a scifi short today? 👀✨h
This week's #freefictionfriday is "Prompts for a Perfect Daughter" from @issuesinst.bsky.social by @aijiang.bsky.social. A young protagonist is forced to follow strict prompts embedded deep in her brain via an implant installed by her parents in the hopes of guiding their child to live a good life.
It is worth noting that the writer of that HWA newsletter telling people to embrace AI, has an AI based coaching app they are selling

I've sent out a short story every day this week :) it's been a nice little new habit. Summer 2026 is the season of realistic goals!
I feel this. The idea that disturbing, dark fiction is more "unethical" than fluffy, gentle fiction is not an idea I think needs to be taken seriously!
Seen some talk of unethical fiction, so here’s my take

My local library has a continuous used book sale. Just got a big bag of mystery/thriller for my grandma's 82nd bday. Never flowers or candles for her--always tales of blood and murder. I love her reading tastes.
I attended a writers conference last week and participated in a flash fiction challenge to write and submit a piece in the same evening. On the conference blog, check out my piece: "The Life of a STEM Tutor in the 24th Century" as well as more great SFF stories from other participants! #writersky

In the battle of "grocery shopping while neurodivergent" today, the store drew first blood (cut my hand on a price tag holder) (a small cut, I'm fine) but I won the war (only spent 20 minutes inside, it wasn't loud or crowded despite being lunchtime, and there was no line at the checkout) 😌

It is publication day for Women of the Weird West!! 🥳 What a journey! This anthology published by Brigids Gate Press and edited by me is near and dear to my heart. I am grateful to the authors for their fascinating tales spanning far-flung galaxies to classic Old West settings.
I'm pleased to report the stinging nettle survived the transplant! I was like, it had better survive after how far I went out of my way to not kill it! My wrist's sacrifice was not in vain...
A couple days before StokerCon and I got a hairline fracture in my wrist, sustained after fighting to repot a nettle with its superpowered root system (I won the fight, btw 😌). Hoping it clears up in a few days, but until then I'm stuck not being able to write or garden. Why is resting so hard!
I miss my StokerCon friends already! We need to have StokerCon more than once a year, and we need at least an entire day with no events or panels where we all just sit in a big circle and hang out with snacks.
