The HWA has apologized for the AI article and specifically apologized for the inclusion of Indigenous water rights struggles in the AI column, and removed the newsletter writer from their board position. I’m deeply appreciative of the apology and of all who expressed solidarity in my post about it.
Diversity in Horror (they/them)
@diversityhorror.bsky.social
I’m a queer, biracial, and neurodiverse enby. Diversity in Horror is my website where I review and promote fiction featuring and/or created by BIPOC, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ folk. You can check it out here: https://diversityhorror.com/
Yes. You are literally describing the exact scenario that I want.
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
It is worth noting that the writer of that HWA newsletter telling people to embrace AI, has an AI based coaching app they are selling
Sèphera Girón: so i hear some of you writers don't like ai Girón: well, i'm tired of all you writers not liking ai! Girón: and i'm gonna let you all know it! Girón: i'm mad as hell! Girón: put that in the newspaper! Girón: or better yet Girón: put it in the HWA newsletter!
So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?

Ugggggh. Fuck Eli Roth. His films aren’t even good, people just like them because they’re “edgy.”
Just saw this (at a secret screening where I didn't know what I was getting!) and can report it also contains an r-slur with autistic people as the punchline 😔
A PSA to my fellow cis people who are (or want to believe they are) trans allies If you are getting pushback from trans people and your reaction is to be all “no! not me! I’m one of the good ones!” please remember that “being one of the good ones” is something you DO, not something you ARE
NEW: For @indiewire.com, I spoke to Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor, Jamie Selkirk and *many* more for an oral history of The Frighteners as it turns 30. Specifically, how the commercial flop drove innovation at Wētā, paved the way for The Lord of the Rings, and was just a whole lot of fun to make.
Peter Jackson and more reflect on 'The Frighteners,' their first Hollywood film, and the growth of Wētā for its 30th anniversary. Oral history.
Well I already didn’t want to see it because it’s Eli Roth, but now I DEFINITELY don’t want to see it. Fuck that noise.

My brother-in-law is still working in the Boston area until he can get a job in the Berkshires where his wife (my sister) and new house are so he’s staying with us on his work days. He always seems genuinely shocked that we’re fine having him stay with us and my wife likes making him food.
It’s raining and I want to be home in bed drinking tea and reading horror but instead I’m at work getting yelled at by patients who are mad I can’t rebook them the same day after they missed their appointments. 😭 I even told them we’re fully booked this week when I was doing the reminder calls.
They’re here . . . author copies unboxed with an assist from Bella
This is the same brother who went up to a complete stranger while walking his dog and said "Hey man, would you give me a toke in exchange for patting my dog?" The stranger said “Sure!”
My cishet little brother is still very angry about the lack of gay sex and twinks in the Odyssey film.

Also, in real life, Graham Linehan was such a piece of shit about trans people that his wife left him and he was forever humiliated by a Youtuber playing Donkey Kong 64. He was also such a gross creep that even the moldy TERF lady for a while rejected him.
just in case you wondered how graham is doing lol
Overnight, a masked bandit broke into our kitchen. Armed with opposable thumbs, he proceeded to sample everything on offer. I’d just visited the farmers market, so the menu was extensive. I can now share a highly specific peer-reviewed list of what this particular raider did & did not enjoy. 🧵

Parents are fed up with friends and relatives giving their kids “personalized” AI-generated storybooks with characters resembling their kids. Apart from data privacy concerns, literacy experts say these garbled and convoluted narratives could be an impediment to learning how to read.
