I talk about video games. Sometimes I even play them. There's also some other stuff.

Retail World of Warcraft is like Disney deciding to open a new theme park every two years. WoW Forever is like Disney deciding to just add a new ride, booth, photo op, snack, or some other thing every so often but, hey, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I'll occasionally get in a spat with some of the video game communities - and I use the term community loosely - because of consumption choices I've made. I bought this or that game, did business with this or that company, and someone thinks that's a bad thing and I should feel bad about it.

It's the Steam Party-Based RPG Fest and Cosmic Star Heroine, Cthulhu Saves Christmas, This Way Madness Lies, and our other RPGs are heavily discounted! It's been a rough few weeks so if you could share this, I'd greatly appreciate it. :) store.steampowered.com/search?term=...

Save 81% on Cosmic Star Heroine on Steam

3 exotic planets to explore. Aliens. Robots. Magic. Forbidden technology. Ruined Worlds. Ghosts. Long-lost secrets. Conspiracies. A galactic threat. And one brave heroine to make things right. Cosmic ...

Nintendo seems to be doubling down on the aspects of 2D Metroid I dislike the most. I want more exploration, less combat whatever this is, and Ninendo told me to go fuck myself. Fair point.

Some wild ass takes about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming out of the regular corners of the Internet. Too realistic, not realistic enough, Z targetting is bad, this Nintendo Direct stepped on my new shoes, etc.

I mean, maybe, but I finished the first Legend of Zelda when I was 8 years old (1988), long before the Internet, when all info was playground info. Kids are tenacious and they have nothing but time. They figure things out.

It is nice to see nintendo still like. Making their games for children. Explaining things at a base level because otherwise like, how will a kid know to shoot an eye or what the different ways to interact are.

I finished Lufia & The Fortress of Doom tonight. Hadn't played it before. Highly unlikely to play it again. It is...oof. I started Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals tonight. Just 30 minutes in and, in comparison, L2 is the embrace of a lover, whereas L1 is a kick straight to the vas deferens.

Geoff Keighley looks like he aged 20 years since Summer Games Fest. Someone check on ol' Geoff. Make sure he's staying hydrated, something.

Speedrunners be unironically like "Well, I guess that was decent" after doing something you couldn't do if you had a thousand years and a mountain of meth.

My favorite new genre of content creator is people who describe themselves as an "Unc" because they just hit 30 and clearly life as they knew it is over. Time invest in khaki pants, golf clubs, and make a playlist that is 75% Steely Dan by volume. Some people are old because they choose to be.

Makin' money. That Do You Feel Lucky Punk money. The Lon Lon Ranch money. That Tifa's 7th Heaven money. That Sonic just took a hit and lost all his rings money.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced - that's a mouthful - has been a delight for the most part but what in the fuck is this weather system? Oh, thought you were going to finally take down that fort? Surprise waterspout, motherfucker. Man O'War on the ropes? Hurricane time, dick.

FWIW I think it's a little strange that "Arkane's Blade is late and over budget" is becoming a lingering news story when the total number of big video games that were *not* late and over budget could be counted on one hand
