Has anyone made a train game about capital using a wildly popular high speed rail project as a vehicle for transferring tax dollars to political ally contractors, ensuring the railway never finishes so they can milk it for eternity? Or are you always incentivized to actually finish the trains?

Houdini's Last Act is a magic trick of an indie game, an investigation of medium hucksters and wavering teammates. It isn't often that we get a small game this handsome or intriguing. My review: spacebiff.com/2026/07/28/h...
Revealing the Medium’s Secret
Houdini’s Last Act feels like a magic trick. And not only because designers Chris Zinsli and Suzanne Zinsli (no relation) (okay, maybe there’s some relation, but it’s rude to assu…

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.
Today I discuss three paper games: one about origami, another with coins, and a third that's all about coloring by numbers. Read about them here: spacebiff.com/2026/07/24/o...

Excited for our first book club on July 28th at 8pm EST! We'll discuss C. Thi Nguyen's "Games: Agency as Art", an excellent text about how games convey agential experiences, and the risk of losing our values to scoring systems. Hosted by @ericdittmore.bsky.social ! discord.gg/NrqwRTm4?eve...
I got a PnP review copy of Color Jam from @lunarpunk.games and tried it out today. Started solo but then one of my kids came and wanted to help me color, and by the end he was helping me choose the colors based on the numbers! We managed to get the picture almost how we wanted!
What is the masculine equivalent of "girlie pop"? And while we're at it, the genderless version.
I was thinking about a fight I had with Big Sticky and realized: arguments aren't always something you want to "win," at least, not with loved ones. That's the genius behind the game Conviction by @xoe.gay. It recognizes that quarrels can have more outcomes than just win/lose. You should try it.
Narrative outcomes are one of our favorite ways to explore game end states. Win/Lose makes sense for some things, but the games we play are ultimately the stories we write, solo or together. It can be pretty cool and impactful to see how your story ends based on the choices you made through play.

Happy pride like do any of you ever forget I'm a trans aroace pile of autism? Because I feel like I'm already pretty damn loud and proud about it all year round. I feel like this should be the month where the cishets deliver to us offerings to signal they have not yet folded to fascism.
"I denied your ad request on BGG because I spend my free time curing demonic possession, and also I think you shouldn't publish your game which I think you made in ignorance of the real depravity of Satan and his works" is a fucking insane thing to write in an email www.reddit.com/r/boardgames...

Me watching Brave Little Toaster as a kid: "I will watch this VHS on repeat til it breaks, I love it!!!" Me as a young adult: "What nonsense. The toaster is emotionally responsible for a flower??" Me post transition: "High art criticism of wasteful consumer culture. Animism for western audiences."
What do you mean "Cake by the Ocean" isn't about having cake by the ocean!?!? I swear every day I feel a little more ace.
