Record-warm March after an unusually dry and snow-poor winter has pushed nationwide snow amounts to unprecedentedly low levels. Snowmelt is occurring more than a month earlier than usual. Normally, these snow depths would be present around May Day.

The month will go down in history as the first March in Finland with nationwide mean temperature above freezing (0 °C). Practically all weather stations will set new March mean temperature record, except those located further out in the Baltic Sea.
As a counter to the "what's the point because things will never change" crowd, having current mayors in different cities so clearly challenge the premise that cars are good and necessary for full enfranchisement in society is not a thing that would have happened just a few short years ago.
