Gutted to hear the news about John Douglas of trashcan sinatras. Of course I've been a fan since the band's very first album and been a part of their online fanbase for just about as long online fanbases have been a thing.

No better testament to my father-in-law’s unceasing belief in me, rest his soul, than the tools he gave me that he thought I may one day have the slightest idea how to use. Miss you tons Edd!

Really gonna have to tie my hand behind my back to not fire off an undoubtedly pointless and counterproductive email to the local community theater company that touts itself as “by kids, for kids” but just made me pay $20 for a show whose cast comprised 90% adults.

A much appreciated gift from a kind friend! Most undervalued Factory release? Produced by Peter Hook. Slot it in with Section 25’s similarly great “From The Hip” (produced by Bernard Sumner) in New Order’s 1984/What We Did On Our Holidays bin.

“My phone is distracting me from my comic books,” he thought to himself reflecting on his perhaps undiagnosed ADHD.

The Bear season 5. I know many have jumped ship but I could literally and metaphorically watch these performers (and writers and editors) cook.

This car dealership has curated the ultimate play list. It’s called Uncle and it conveniently collects all of the worst songs ever recorded. Even better, they create an aural ambiance where its volume is exactly equal to the nearby tv showing news you’d prefer to ignore!

The Magritte cover grabs your attention initially but the first solo album from Lindisfarne’s singer songwriting comes by its early Elton/Bowie vibes honestly as its engineered by Ken Scott. RIYL Roy Harper or Michael Chapman. (Ack too many dumb snobby reference points for a distinctly original lp!)

Looks like a Pavement LP but sounds like the Church or something from Flying Nun circa 1988, has copious amounts of 12 string guitar plus saxophone and is one of the most exciting things I’ve heard this year. It’s Station Model Violence from Sydney, Australia! Thnx staticshockrecords.bsky.social !

You’ll never believe it but this job posting is looking for someone with an “AI-first” and “AI-native” mindset.

The films my middle school kids are watching in school now that equivalency testing is done, grades are due, and break is imminent: Michael, Remember the Titans, She’s the Man. Hit their non existent Letterboxd for reviews…

New Death Cab album so good it makes me regret selling my copy of We Have The Facts and We’re Voting Yes. Alternate title: You Seem Pretty Sad For A Guy So Divorced.

Inherited this one from my dad but had never played it until today. Sometimes see it go for big bucks? Turns out it’s great! Same swampy soulful vibe as Exile on Main Street. Recorded in a shed in Accokeek Maryland! Crabs likely consumed.

The new Lemon Twigs arrived today. Haven’t had a chance to spin it yet; quite confident it’s characteristically brilliant (D’Addarios don’t miss) but can we just pause a second and appreciate… *an actual jewel case*? In this economy @capturedtracks.bsky.social ?

Finnish jazz combo Oiro Peno got a bit of buzz in the nerd jazz community recently. Saw the hand silkscreened art (on recycled reversed covers no less!) and read a reference to hip hop legends Main Source in its description. SOLD! Puts me in the mind of the kind of stuff Don Cherry did in Europe.
