If you want to talk to somebody about it, you should absolutely chase that feeling, and talk to other dudes. But the women in your lives already know this is fucked up. I promise you. We know. Don’t make us nod politely while you process this out at your big age. We’ve got enough to worry about.

I don’t care who you are, I promise, the women in your life don’t need to hear “wow rape culture is awful” from you. I am very comfortable making this a blanket statement. You can either show up for them via your *actions* or you can keep on doing what you’ve been doing, which is nothing at all.

while i believe in an anti-carceral society and believe in a world without prisons, i still think it's important to hold space for those impacted by these violent, life altering crimes and their frustrations and their pain and the lack of justice offered to them.

I see all the progressives calling for restorative justice and "People shouldn't call for those Cornell men to be harmed" and look, I get it. I do. But do you not see how women are always expected to ooze empathy for men when those men literally do not even see us as human?

+ I keep noticing the same people who are acting like we have to Peace and Love™️ this story are the same ones referring to rape and sexual assault as 🍇 Which tells me you prefer to appease the algorithm to go viral than actually standing by survivors and naming our horrors with your full chest.

I don't believe in the death penalty, but I also don't believe in our legal system, and if women can't even be angry on the internet that a woman was raped for 7 hours, then just admit you also want women to be meek and quiet.
