Have to admit the man knows his fraud. "The government is the problem. It’s not the Iran war—the government is the problem." Whose war? Who's the government, Senator? Your company defrauded taxpayers of $1.7 billion and you walked away with $300 million. Now you're the government, you and Trump.

I have had my quibbles with open science in sociology, but I do think that if people are going to start using LLMs as part of analysis, sociology journals must mandate reproducibility norms. Stochastic proprietary algorithms are not conducive to cumulative science

as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."
This is not a happy ending, except for the IRGC. It's a terrible precedent that will worsen international tensions. But it can't be helped. It's been inevitable ever since Trump decided on this war against the will of Congress and it's all on his reckless, ignorant, and lawless White House.
