“It's a new art form after all, and new art forms deserve their own spotlight, don't you think?” I'd be more inclined to think that if the people using AI for art were actually pushing artistic boundaries instead of (as the notion of an “AI actor” does) poorly imitating existing art forms.

Tilly Norwood has been billed the first AI "actor" in Hollywood which raises questions about what awards synthetic performers should be nominated for. In an exclusive chat with CNN's Elizabeth Wagmeister, Tilly Norwood responded to questions about winning an Oscar.

Something I learned last night while Terraform-inating a one-off static site of mine (S3-website → CloudFront migration): Regardless of the region where you created the CloudFront distribution, if you create a cert for it w/ ACM, the cert *has* to be in us-east-1 or you'll get errors.

In the enterprise world, sure, this is true. In that context, the code is a means to an end, and the emphasis should be on the criteria which that code must fulfill. Outside of that world, though, I pretty strongly disagree with this. Implementation creativity absolutely has its place.

Creativity happens in the requirements gathering, spec, design, and architecting phase. Implementations should be boring as fuck as as simple as possible.

This video is further proof that soon cheaters in online multiplayer games will have AI-enabled performance enhancers (taking HDMI video and outputting mouse/keyboard events over USB/BT) and there ain't a damn thing client-side anticheat software like EAC or BattleEye would be able to do about it.

Mad props to @pds.dad (and @dame.is) for not only co-building a cool site, but for being the perfect demonstration all around of how to take a deluge of criticism with grace, even when that criticism is (IMO) the exact opposite of constructive. And if you haven't checked out bsky38.com yet, do it!

re: bsky38.com and everything. I had a bit of sleep on it (4hrs) I'm trying my best not to take a lot of it personally, and I do not fault or hold ill content for anyone who doesn't want to use bsky38 or is talking about it in anger w/ AI. The world sucks and a lot of that is thanks to AI usage.

It's wild (but unsurprising, given when both games released) how strongly the vibes of this intro match those of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri's 3D-rendered cutscenes, from the camera moves to the textures to the lighting. Even the explosion toward the end sounds a lot like the mind worm death noise.

The intro for this one is a classic 3D rendered job, presented in glorious 240p (or possibly even lower) and is unfortunatly so long, I have to cut it into 2 parts for Bluesky! In part 1 we colonise a distant planet, only to find it's not so keen on keeping us around...

Before my dad passed, he was on in-home hospice care for multiple months, with my stepmom, sisters, and I at his side basically 24/7 that entire time. I guess in RFKjr's infinite wisdom, those many nights of orally administering morphine every 2 hours were just figments of my imagination?

LThe HHS Secretary described uncovering hospices where patients were enrolled but, in his words, never died. "Typically, if you go to a hospice, you leave within 18 days because your dying is terminal," Kennedy said, describing what he framed as a fraud scheme in Los Angeles.
