I see people taking great pride in the fact that they don’t use AI for work and don’t have AI experience. Some even thinking it will give them an edge? Imagine 30 years ago declaring: “I’ll be able to do my job without the internet or a computer” before anyone knew how encompassing it would be.

@flushes.app was one of the first examples of a totally unique ATproto app that was clearly built for fun. And a good protocol encourages people to create fun toys. But now it's back wit a new version... with a fundraiser in support of @trevorproject.bsky.social . Kudos to @dame.is on the relaunch.

They are organizing in groups that intentionally isolate themselves from the rest of humanity. "Coding" is the only way to gain entry to these groups. They fundraise on it, and "coding" skills seem to give you permission to change any number of things in the world you have no other expertise in.

the number of folks who jumped to the worst possible interpretation of toni’s interview clips is quite concerning, too many people have let social media and purity culture just melt their brains… it’s one of the most gratuitous & gross examples of toxic online discourse culture i’ve seen in awhile

The conversation about AI in health stuff is always about the risks of patients using AI. I'm more worried about possibilities like every appointment gets inspected by an insurance company in detail so that if a patient uses the slightly wrong words about something their care is denied.

Agree v. strongly. Social media is beyond “lagging indicator” for this kind of thing; it’s fully out of phase. Notice that ppl are still using the socials to express hard feelings about woke in 2019 and lockdowns in 2020! +

AI culture war in leftist/progressive circles has been incredibly bad for the past 2 years, and it still is not great, but i’ve seen real evidence we’re moving to a place of better understanding/respect/policy so lets not succumb to doomerism social media makes it seem a lot worse than it really is
