Just a casual reminder that CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER (dir. Zhang Yimou, 2006) features one of the greatest bitch slaps in cinematic history

The wife & I decided to go out for breakfast this morning and revisited one of our old favorites (The Wooden Spoon in KC) and they now have Apple Cider Pancakes (with honey cinnamon butter) & it's amazing. And I got the Angry Irishman (corn beef hash/jalapenos/gravy/over easy eggs). Delicious.
Another day where I check the news & social media and wish that anyone with even an ounce of smug special privilege or ego would just shut up, or not be allowed or able to share their opinion on anything It's possible to have an opinion without showing your whole ass & yet some find it so difficult
The crazy thing about that THR editorial is they still ran it after he posted this
Friday. Screenland Armour. @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS is screening AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. A glorious film. A masterpiece. Love Naughton. Love Dunne. Love Agutter. Love Baker's work. All top notch So weird the film has no director. No director at all. None. Erased
I think that every once in a while there should be a special triumvirate who get together & vote to take away filmmaking privileges from certain individuals. I recommend the first 2 individuals to be voted on are Alejandro G. Iñárritu & Ben Affleck. And then we abolish the board directly after.
After the rollercoaster that was the Chiefs game I was jonesing for more football, only to look and see that SNF was Lions & Panthers? Really? Really? Were they just pulling randomly from a hat? Well, I guess, go Panthers?

It's the start of SHOCKtober at Screenland Armour and there might not be a better way to start this month, than with @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS as they are leading a sold out showing of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS!!
There's SO MANY films that play Fantastic Fest that sometimes movies that don't get 4 1/2 - 5 stars, get lost in the mix. So I decided to highlight 5 films from this year's fest, that people should put on their radar!
Fantastic Fest 2026: Best Of The Rest Of The Fest @yoadriantorres.bsky.social on 5 films from the festival that may have slipped your radar—but stay on the look out for them! www.neonsplatter.com/reviews/fant... #FantasticFest
Gotta love the American Healthcare System, where you go for a knee consultation, get told you ARE going to need knee surgery, but they want to push it off for a few months, have you take the shot that hasn't worked before & then do a follow-up...why is it a cycle & not a flat line to help/recovery?
I cannot begin to express the overwhelming relief that hit me upon seeing a movie in a theater, and for the first time in over a week not having to sit through a HELLRAISER: REVIVAL teaser... #IYKYK #FantasticFest
Sleep is for the weak! (said before I hibernate for the weekend) #FantasticFest may be over, but I'm back in a theater, at Screenland Armour in KC for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS showing of the incomparable FLASH GORDON on the big screen!
I will be good as the rest of #FantasticFest goes on, but this makes a good starting point. Seen several good films so far but still have special spots for both THE SPIRAL and INTO THE SKY. One hit me on a funny & dark level I needed & the other is a "curse" film I very much needed in my life.
Really glad the KC weather had finally become manageable, by going from 100+ heat index, to 70's & rainy. I also hate that, as it's messed with my arthritis and fucked with my back & neck days before I go out of town...where it's 100+ with the heat index...

it must be so difficult to act with a character who you can’t even see. thankfully, Foghorn is just that talented
Friday night and I'm back at Screenland Armour for another round of @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHT. And this week is special, as I get to see one of my favorite films on the big screen, because it's the PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE!!!! 🎶That's what life is all about🎶
You just KNEW Ospreay was walking out as champion, just weren't sure exactly in what fashion it would transpire. And while it did go the route of least resistance, it still told and wove a story/battle worthy of the giddy nerds in the middle of the ring. Well done, Ospreay. Well done, Omega. #allin
The "Press Play" icon. The "New" name. Coming out to Ferg & Future. Gotta say I love The New Level. Sooo on the nose. But then again "goofy wrestling for life". I knew it was coming and still made for a good time.
Sometimes the best way to revisit a film you haven't seen in a while, is to see it the way it was MEANT to be seen. So, not only am I getting to see @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Frights series at Screenland show HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT II, but I'm getting to see it in 35mm!
I won't believe that this is anything but definitive proof that C.H.U.D.s exist. Anything else is just spin trying to throw us off the scent.
I say this rarely, but there were times during this movie I felt sick. BOWELS OF HELL is a wild film I need people to see. Its cold open has beats of THE COFFEE TABLE, while the rest of it feels like the demonic love child of John Waters, Frank Henenlotter & Lloyd Kaufman. Disgusting and hilarious.
Review—Fantasia 2026: BOWELS OF HELL @yoadriantorres.bsky.social says this one’s for the true cinematic sickos. www.neonsplatter.com/reviews/fant...
Mentally & physically have been broken by an entire month of mandatory overtime & extreme heat, but thankfully movies have kept me going. Remember, while big budgets & high concepts get a lots of mainstream attention, nothing beats a simple & efficient film done right. Simply put: WATCH EVERYTHING
Criticizes Nolan's casting choices, but video he links to starts by showing a white guy looking like he was a cast-off from CLASH OF THE TITANS and says he'll make sure a work of fiction featuring mythological creatures & figures will be "historically accurate" In case anyone wanted a good laugh...
