👇 In reference to that SDCC Avatar Aang slide everyone is talking about. It was a page from an artbook, and the reference to Chat GPT was likely injected by the person who put the book together. Actual artists like Kat who worked on the film have no idea why it says that.

Every aspect of the animation is handcrafted by real artists and I hope that people don’t use this slide as a reason to detract from how much love and labor went into the film.

I keep seeing people thinking this is a bluesky problem. If you're seeing this it thinks you're in a state or country with age verification laws. This is what every social media site will do if KOSA and the KIDS Act succeeds. Running to another socmed won't fix it, we have to fight the source.

social media that's bad for minors is obviously bad for adults too. crazy to me that the move seems to be to just accept that and ban minors rather than regulate the obvious design patterns that were put in there on purpose which make it harmful to its users

A couple things I think are worth adding: OpenAI is a big backer of KOSA and Elon Musk not only endorsed it but informed the language of the bill. Passing KOSA/ID verification in exchange for state AI preemption is being framed as a “tradeoff” but it's exactly what big tech has been lobbying for!
