I have no interest arguing what may or may not be done sustainably with "Best Practices", but in pragmatic terms virtually all of these projects are toys cosplaying as tools. Toys can be cool (when they're not ruining the world), but pretending to be a serious tool is deceitful, intentionally or not

I've never really gotten into Zoids, but I've somehow had a Dimetrodon kit in my closet for years and years that I finally found time to assemble. It was very different from your typical gunpla. Thicker plastic, broader details. No individual part looked like anything until the final assembly.

Watched an El Santo movie and I htink the funniest thing to me is that he's simultaneously played as a detective superhero yet he's also still an in-universe wrestler, so he has to pause the plot to go wrestling three separate times

Ultimately too, that person still has to try and limit out much other peoples opinions effect their personal day, but still, people are going to yap about how things make them feel, and the negative is no more or less valid than the positive. Just... gotta be courteous and considerate.

And I think there is a bit of a small tyranny in how we prioritize positive feelings, because you can flip this. You can talk about how much it sucks when everyone is gushing over the thing you think is OBVIOUSLY GARBAGE, and how frustrating it is.

So like I agree completely with the first part, but I feel conflicted on the second. It's important to limit your splash damage when you can, and practical realities of dogpiling might mean *now is not the time*, but ultimately people gotta not let their day ruined by people hating on shit they like

Even as a hater of “the thing”, I think it’s also worth considering how you word your critique. The value of going full hater-mode on something really needs to outweigh the damage you do by shitting on something people enjoy.
