I am begging you not to believe gazillionaire baseball owners when they tell you Skubal going to the Dodgers means we need a salary cap. Competitive balance is not the reason they want a salary cap. They just want to spend less, and with more predictability, on total payroll. That is all.

If you're going to be a pedant, at least be correct about things. Wikipedia's first sentence on longships would've been handy for this guy.

A lot of this is also rooted in the fact that left wing men would rather try to win back white working class men than build a coalition with white women with college degrees (who are decidedly economically progressive) and Black voters (older ones are conservative. Younger ones are more left-wing)

I remember having it on “good authority” from white supporters of his that he was VERY popular among Black people. Meanwhile, every Black person I actually saw talking about him, save one writer on Substack, was as horrified as Solomon. The whole campaign felt like a psy-op.

Taught a class at a converted church which was a little too much in the other direction. I was so far away from my congregation… er…students.
