Also, watched the first part of 70 Up tonight, which satisfied my people-watching habit.

Had to abandon Question Time after I found myself agreeing with Andrew Neil

Was up near the University earlier, and the best thing I overheard in passing was "oh man, you wouldn't believe how much francophone afrobeat I've listened to lately"
Interesting to see Ossett Brewery with an advertising campaign for White Rat.
"This Earth should be called Ocean and the water is the most powerful thing on it"
They are built for a mission which is definitionally impossible. You cannot beat the sea. This Earth should be called Ocean and the water is the most powerful thing on it. But these folks volunteer to go out there and fight it anyway because humans should take care of humans.

This one's definitely a Brian Eno album.

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone in/near Bromley need any pallets? We have a customer who has accumulated 30 or so that they are unable to get rid of. Free to collect.
Wow. Trying to set up MS Authenticator, and when I do so, it's asking me enter the code from MS Authenticator. Which isn't set up. Because I can't enter the code. Because the app isn't set up. Because I can't enter the code. Because the app isn't set up. Because I can't enter the code. Et c. Et c.
Bonnie Greer, "I can't think of any time where the electorate would actually think of electing a convicted felon as president of the US" Gordon Sondland, "The real jury, which are the American people decided he was innocent" Bonnie Greer, "No, the real jury are the people selected to be the jury"
Having had a slightly naughty cocktail on a school night, I'm now trying to fool my brain that the party is continuing by drinking 0.5% lager.
Also this evening, was in the supermarket and could hear hysterical little girl laughter. Came round the end of an aisle and saw said girl in the seat of a trolley, and her dad holding up a much too small baby onesie to her, saying "so will this one fit my little baby then?"
I've been laughing my arse off this evening at the phrase I heard on the news: "The scheme will cost more than a trillion dollars, and its legality is unknown"
Andy is actually a pretty funny name for a prime minister though.
Somewhere in England, a tired man turns off Channel 4 news and wearily puts on a bin.
Was coming home tonight and the neighbour from 5 doors down joined me on the walk and asked me what my son was up to, and how are his driving lessons going. I told him that college was going really well, and he'd just passed his driving test. "You must be so proud of him" he said 1/2
Well, at least they spelled Leiestenshire correctly.
I absolutely love this that someone just posted on linkedin clearly created by AI without even rudimentary checking. Surrey appears to be trying to escape to France. Staffordshire and Oxfordshire have annexed Wales. And Labour are very strong in the county of "Monthiste". Which has never existed.
More small boat arrivals this morning at *checks notes* Paralia Gidaki.
Just getting to the end of a first week on holiday abroad, and checking in on the news at home. You all OK? Shit looks crazy.
one time i was in the elevator going to my own event, next to a woman holding a stack of my books. i was like "we're going to the same place 😏" and she said "i'm so not a fan, but signed copies get more on ebay" and i said "i'm so sorry for what's about to happen"
I go on book tour and very often I go to the venue where the event will be and there is a helpful person near the door asking if I am there for the event. I then have to tell them that I am, in fact, the event. So, no, I don't assume anyone knows who I am, even on tour. And that is perfectly fine.
I mean, I'm tempted to sign up for a share allocation with Second Best just to see what happens.
As the old saying goes, Manhattan after Rioja, you'll be okay-ah. Rioja after Manhattan, your underwear will be shat in.
