I’ve been burned in my prime 🎹📚🌞🔮

I can’t stop thinking about Ian McEwan’s What We Can Know. I had forgotten how great McEwan is at writing the internal lives of characters, with intricate plot to boot. It’s had the secondary effect of driving me straight back into the arms of Iris Murdoch, an obvious influence.

I keep waiting for Blueboy’s Unisex (1994) to get rediscovered—how has “Also Ran” never been used in a Greta Gerwig movie? One of the sweetest and most underrated albums I’ve ever loved. Whence the Sarah Records revival?

In all sincerity, seeing Todd Rundgren playing in a cave might have been the most fitting environment I’ve ever seen him play in (Plato’s cave allegory, the dawn of man, “dragging my knuckles along the ground…”)

I feel like the only way to get through life right now is by building a tower of books around me about physics and neo-Kantian philosophy and renaissance music and late 19th century shifting concepts of time to read tiny sips from daily

Every once in a while I go through phases of learning a song on the guitar and being absolutely LIVID that when I was younger I thought the guitar was some wildly difficult instrument closed off to me but, as it turns out, every GBV song is the same 4 power chords

“josh, anything to add?” [performs entirety of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush] “uh i think you’re on mute” “oh whoops how about now” “we hear you now” [performs entirety of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush]
