love the donations section - really shows you how rich individuals feel: two knights have donated to NZ First (seriously wtf); but then we also see several company/business/philanthropist names donating, so we know whom we should support.

With just over six months to go till the election, Newsroom has launched a page to track the latest polls and political donations. Check it out here: newsroom.co.nz/2026/04/30/t...

$81 to spend 10 minutes on a video call with my GP, because I needed a new prescription for long term medication, and their website had denied it. $75 worth of medication that could be at least $25 cheaper if they had kept $0 prescription fees; free if they were better at subsidising medications.

Other than phoning, it seems the only way to contact One.NZ is through AI, or a third-party app (whatsapp, facebook messenger, apple messages). Also, those who have worked in call centres in the past might find it interesting they disclose № of calls received previous day. Thursday had 5,000 calls..

a colleague said she was gonna ask AI to help us figure out what GST and Stamp Duty we needed to charge for something and I was like "that's risky, AI just wants you to be happy" and she abandoned it. gently gently get people off that fucken AI.

forgive my naïveté, but tax credits only turn to money once a year when IRD does its refund reviews, right? If so, perhaps they expect this will be slipped in before the 31st of March--then those families could get the $50 a week when refunds get issued in July 🤷🏻

Well, this does nothing for folks without kids or are on a benefit. Also importantly it does nothing about supply of fuel. Nor does it reduce demand on fuel. If anything, it makes demand worse. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...

I have no idea why we call it "Russian Fudge" here, but my aunt used to make the BEST Russian Fudge (actually, all her baking was generally amazing). I can't have dairy anymore, so I go a little crazy when I find a vegan store with vanilla fudge. So good! So addictive!

Attention all those with a sweet tooth: Vanilla Fudge is #RecipeOfTheDay! I feel I should apologise for my appalling cutting and photography, though. This photo was originally intended as a placeholder pic, but I never got around to changing it. www.nigella.com/recipes/vani...

I read the post from Hipkins' ex - and I'm not going to say whether I think it's all true or not, but I find it VERY hard to believe that the hospital would discharge someone in a hospital gown covered in blood; I know we have SEVERE issues in our hospitals, but I highly doubt this is one of them.

time keeps pushing forward without so much as grace; lines deepen, bodies expand as dreams meld into daytime-- reality blurs-- seeping through days, weeks, years souvenirs in mind --like yesterday-- drift further away past years are past lives; my person so different, I lost myself completely

I’m sharing this video again because people don’t really get what these data centers and ai are doing to our planet and our communities. Especially Black communities because they were strategically placed there. I need you to listen to these people. STOP USING AI. STOP SUPPORTING AI.

wtf, my following dashboard goes from 13 days ago to 10 hours ago 🙃 usually I scroll down to the last thing I've read, then go upwards. The oldest post should be at least 12 hours.

look at this charming tauhou / waxeye nest found under a tree, presumably blown out or dislodged by a possum. horse hair, pig hair (?), moss, small twigs & A FULL HYDRANGEA FLOWER woven in. bless (photo by anna-lisa gilmore, posted in fb group birds of new zealand. shared here with her permission)
