I've been doing a new project w/a grad student collaborator & we got interested in Tagore's short stories. (Alongside everything else, he was a world-class short story writer!) We made a collection of them; it's the largest set currently online (I think): scalar.lehigh.edu/literature-o...

it got changed to August 4th 2026 when it was included in THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES (which is absolutely one of the greatest short story collections of all time), and THEN it got changed LATER in a 90s edition of the same collection, pushed up to the 2050s

Random thought. Writer-type folx with ADHD would be more likely to do short fiction, poetry, or something like copywriting rather than book-length work. What’s your take?

Vanakkam! Does anyone know any BRYOLOGISTS? We are looking for someone who has researched moss species in South India (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh) to collaborate with us on a small project. Kindly DM. Mikka Nandri!

Fascinating thread and discussion in the replies. I am thinking of Bombay’s trams, and how they were eventually phased out, though the government-owned company that ran them still exists, running the public bus service and, in name, the electricity supply. (The electricity supply has been sold off…

While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.

They created vile 'app' where they put Muslim women up "for sale" to humiliate them. They've called minorities every name they could think of and made up some more. Their IT cell has popularised these slurs. Rich of them to now start talking about restraint and polite behaviour in public discourse.

Hilarious that the Hindu right in India is trying to make an issue of protesters using foul language after spending 12+ years calling every Indian woman on social media every variation of 'bitch' 'slut' etc and making receiving rape & death threats a regular-ass part of online life in India.
