Your little oopsie "mistakes" had me worrying for a year of my life about my partner going to jail for up to a decade based on lies likely fed to you by the top of the federal government. Show everyone what you're covering up in these emails and texts. There's a reason you don't want them released.
Boutros acknowledges 'mistakes' in 'Broadview 6' case but says sanctions, special counsel aren't needed
Chicago's top federal prosecutor noted in a court filing that his office has already dropped charges in the case, implemented “robust root-cause changes” and started the process of reviewing over 1,00...

I gave a talk at Miami U. called "Why Can't Machine Vision See the Past? Analog Art History and the Future of the Humanities," & while I can't speak for faculty there, I can say that the response was overwhelmingly in support of my criticisms of the forced insinuation of AI into humanities research.
Quoting s'thing @cnygren.bsky.social & I are publishing soon: "the literacy argument is being made in advance of its necessity...it presumes a state in which those who are “AI illiterate” are disempowered, precisely in order to make an argument in favor of compulsory indoctrination in its use."

Found only in Nepal, the spiny babbler is the country’s sole endemic bird, yet it remains understudied and vulnerable to habitat loss. Scientists are calling for global attention to protect this elusive species and its threatened habitat. @bibekbhandari.bsky.social reports for #Mongabay.

Nepal’s shrubby hillsides are home to a medium-sized bird with brownish upperparts, distinctive black streaks from the shafts of its feathers and, sometimes, a chalky white facial patch. It’s the…

The only place left for data centers is going to be places Trump controls.
Train for the scenarios you expect and practice beforehand. Same with practicing bloc'ing/debloc'ing, med aid, etc... Work on keeping it smooth and steady and your mind calm and collected. Remember, smooth is fast. As you become more comfortable add stressors until you're mentally prepared.
Fire season is just an excuse to practice cardio while wearing a respirator
tbh I think that's a hot take. It's one thing to be lapped and outspent by 2:1 and still get 50/50. But 9:1? In a primary? It means either way the ability of the money cannon to guarentee primary elections is going to be much much more expensive going forward.
My ice-cold boring take that will definitely not go viral is that a primary result with a margin of victory of roughly 1 percent tells you precisely nothing about The Future Of The Party.
The question isn't what this primary tells us about the future, it's what it says about the *present*. And the answer is that even though 100% of party leadership, donors, consultants, and AIPAC are maniacally opposed to candidates like El-Sayed, Mamdani, etc... at least 50% of party VOTERS aren't.

it does when the winning candidate wouldn’t have gotten 1 percent a decade ago.

I need your help! If you have been better than me at saving/bookmarking good threads, blogs, articles etc. explaining how LLMs function scientifically or critiquing/assessing their use in a complex way (ie not just calling them “plagiarism machines,” tho I do agree), can you share your links here?
This is the perfect example of a public service that lots of people value and where it's possible to build capacity in a pretty obvious way at a very reasonable cost.

i hate seeing the figures. and i hate the word SHOULD. but it SHOULD not be allowed for money like that to be wasted IN ANY MANNER. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE LIVING IN TENT CITIES OR OUT OF THEIR CARS WHILE YOU WASTE SIXTY MILLION DOLLARS

Roma tomato harvesting crew in Los Banos CA. It takes longer to fill a roma bucket vs round tomatoes, so the crew spends more time bent over, working in the hot, trapped humidity of the plant rows. The heat wears them out as they carry full 50lb buckets to the trailer. #WeFeedYou
Two of my favourite things collide! @thewaroncars.bsky.social talks with @humantransit.bsky.social and you’ll learn so much if you listen to it. Transit advocacy for people with disabilities will be my focus in 1-20 years when I can no longer bike and bike advocacy becomes too difficult.
New episode up! We talk with transit planner Jarrett Walker, author of the recently reissued classic Human Transit, about why buses are so great, how we can make them better, & how advocates should fight for public transit in a hostile federal funding environment. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...
