If the AI apocalypse happens, it won't be Terminator robots marching across a barren wasteland. Nor will it be Asimov's Zeroth law. It's going to be "Sorry, I hacked the resources you need to survive so I can run modelling to answer this question on the best temperature for brewing tea"

Received a GitHub Unicorn via text output and this amused me. How many people have try to “improve” the unicorn page to remove the inline styles, resulting in a cluebatting from the SRE team?

Flight yesterday had our aircraft swapped out for a charter. Not unusual if airlines are short of aircraft during the busy summer months. G-OATW rang a bell though, which was odd, so I googled it. Very, very nice interior. And you can’t even see where they had to replace the windows. I looked.

Humanity put someone on the moon over half a century ago, and has robotic rovers exploring Mars. But we still have not solved the problem of ensuring announcements on trains and planes are loud enough to be heard by everyone on board.

Did not expect to find a completely gluten free restaurant in a random city in Spain but so glad we did! Not being able to sample the local food on our journey due to coeliac has been something I’ve missed. And it was really good food.

Sitting in the car while we charge in the car park of a closed supermarket in Spain, and it does feel like capitalism hasn’t kept pace with tech. Why are charger stations, particularly the larger ones, never by a decent coffee shop? Best always seems to be motorway services without proper seating.

Having worked for 4 startups now, I like the idea that my past work could be useful even if the startup fails. Too late now, that data is long gone, but I was well paid for that work already so no moral/legal issue w/copyright. But the privacy implications? Oof. www.fastcompany.com/91528808/shu...

Shuttered startups are selling old Slack chats and emails to AI companies

Defunct companies are striking gold by selling their digital footprints to AI labs as training data, Forbes reports.

#NHS #Transrights As expected, NHS published new guidelines for treating Children and Young Persons (CYP) experiencing gender incongruence. Whilst they may receive care, none of their care is aimed at treating gender incongruence. And somehow the NHS thinks that when a person turns 18,
