So, during dinner at Holmes in the Heartland, each place setting had a copy of the Baker Street Journal. I thought it was cute but did not pay much attention at the time... Until @kyndall-221b.bsky.social pointed out that each was a different month and year. They were actual journals, not replicas.

I think I'm just rebelling against the current assumption that if a story wants to be taken seriously it needs to BE gritty and realistic and depressing. It's my anti-lit-fic crusade popping up in a different context.

I am screaming internally. It’s people’s book opinions again. Someone is complaining about The Hound of the Baskervilles, saying it’s only three stars because it was “disappointingly predictable.” Bestie, that book is like 125 years old, it has been copied and rehashed and homaged to death…!
