Mad about Steam Trains, Speedway, Coventry City and my lovely Wife Wendy and our family.
Alleluia! First day of the past week I haven't had "you have a new message" from the Coventry City Ticketmaster Account telling me my Season Ticket has been updated 🙄
George is a very sensible cat eh @wildlifewend.bsky.social ?
George The Station Cat@george-station-cat.bsky.social · last wk.Night night sweet dreamies Some days you’ll have the strength to take on the world. Other days, you’ll need to curl up, shut the world out for a little while and just rest. Both are okay. Learning to listen to yourself, rather than always pushing through, is important.
RIP Esther Rantzen. There will never be a TV programme with the incredible public reach that That's Life had in the late 70s & early to mid 1980s, when it was regularly watched by 15 million to 20 million www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A day later, and Sky Blues fans are still on cloud nine. Seeing the reaction of the team, management, ownership and mostly the wonderful fans puts it in perspective. We'll lose more, but make the good times count. We're gonna have lots of fun this season 👍👍👍

I don't care what anyone says; I love Coventry City and think we're in a far better place than we've been for years. Well done Doug King, and well done Frank Lampard. You have restored our pride and club to where it should be 👏👏👏👏👏
Footy, trains, proper ale and the love of a good woman (person) what more could anyone wish for?

Still our happy place despite rumours to the contrary 🤣🤣🤣
The Irish musicians, Beoga, who play alongside Ed Sheeran, have withdrawn from Sheeran’s tour. This is the statement they published on Instagram:
Anyone know why a newspaper owned by the Fourth Lord Rothermere, who inherited a fortune from the Third Lord Rothermere, who inherited his money from the Second Lord Rothermere, who inherited it from the First Lord Rothermere, is so strongly opposed to inheritance tax?
There are some proper people left it seems. Appears I have something in my eye.....

Me and my chum John still having fun despite the attrition of age and health - Stratford Canal today. Lovely stuff though he did discover that his mobile can't swim😱 thanks to our lovely ladies for looking after us👍
🎯 by @ellabaron.bsky.social The abuse directed towards RNLI volunteers is horrendous. Solidarity with RNLI volunteers. They are doing incredible work.
25 years ago today, I landed at Maastricht (work). Folk ran up to us saying "thank God you're safe". Nobody knew what was going on. My company stopped all travel and I ended up in an airport hotel full of US folk weeping as they saw "enactments" of the planes crashing into the towers. Awful.
Monster fishing vessels are hoovering up whole ecosystems in UK waters that are supposed to be protected. I just signed a petition calling on the new government to save our seas from destructive fishing, by banning supertrawlers in UK Marine Protected Areas. Will you join me? act.gp/44M8iQA

Bill Bryson’s words seem appropriate to post right now
This is a disgrace. Brave RNLI volunteers being called scum for risking their lives to save others at sea is just plain wrong. So I've signed an open letter of thanks for the RNLI letting them know these thugs do not speak for the rest of us. Add your name? 38d.gs/jpcf

I was 7 in 1964. We holidayed by train (steam if we were lucky) and life seemed simpler. Country lanes, telegraph poles and a deep blue sea it was safe to bathe in... Happy days!

Night night sweet dreamies Never underestimate the little bits of good you leave behind in someone else’s day. A smile. A kind word. A moment of laughter. You may forget them by tomorrow, but someone else might remember them for much longer
