5 player game of Wingspan Pocket... it was the first game I rushed to buy at Gen Con. Gotta be honest, after just one play, I see this getting played more often than Wingspan around here. It's smooth and fast, plays 1-5, and is very affordable and portable. #BoardGames

Row of cards - a nest card with my yellow bird meeple and an egg... followed to the right by 6 bird cards, some with a few eggs, some with other bird cards tucked underneath them. Below that is the reserve area with the player aid card and a couple of worm resource cards. (the cards have resources on the back and birds on the front so they're multi use) In the center of the table is a messy card market with 4 stacks of resources and 4 bird cards available plus a little container of eggs.

There are a few game designers who share their passion with their kids... and help nurture their kids' efforts and I think that's incredibly rad. Kids are great game designers! Their imaginations and "what if..." and willingness to try different things can be so fun. Love this.

Thinking about... - Gen Con staffing borked due to NY storms shutting down all flights - Gen Con unprecedented storming included tornado watches, a funnel cloud, plus convention center AND shelter flooding - coming home to haze and air warning due to massive wildfires This is... bad, right?

When do we get to call a boardgame an "oldie" or "modern classic"? I was pulling out Murano and said, "how about this oldie but goodie?" and my friend said "uhhhhh that's not old." The industry grew so fast the last 10-15 years... Murano is a 2014 title and 10+ years feels like ages ago.

I've played thousands of board games... and one important lesson that's really sunk in over the past 5 years is... understand how the game fits (or doesn't fit) the group. Played a game of Torchlit with two different groups and it was fascinating how different the plays were when it fit vs didn't.
