42) Rain98 Absolutely fuckin incredible. A game about living with a girl who wants to destroy reality before the turn of the millennium. I won't say anything more, this is astoundingly good, insanely pretty, and written with a striking degree of panache and empathy. Love love LOVE it.
26) Prospice WHEW. Death Stranding/Snowrunner married with something like Roadside Picnic. Deliver goods and establish a communication network in a zone filled with terrifying shit, every part of this hits super well, just the right mix of serene and deeply unsettling. I LOVE how the map works.
23) SNAPTIC A really neat puzzle platformer with some great movement and a very cool tone and style. I like a lot of what it does with its puzzle design, I'm pretty keen to unpack this one when it drops.
19) Immortal Coil Hey this one's great! Really strong card game with great mechanical bones and the kind of vibe you so rarely see outside of games like Culdcept. I was really into everything this was doing!
17) Magnavale: Eternal Soul BANGER ALERT, SOUND THE BANGER ALARM. This basically just feels like a completely new IGAvania, and hits in absolutely every way you'd want it to. I love love *love* this. Maybe my favorite demo in the next fest, god I can't wait for the release. Fuuuuck this rules.
15) Feather Trail Oh now this is a delight. I've spoken about how much I love RPGs that try something distinct in place of combat, and in this game's case, that's birdwatching. I love going to shop getting new gear leveling up all in the name of looking out and saying "yup, that's a birdie buddy."
It's cold comfort to any devs dealing with it in the here and now, but this does already have precedent: doujinshi. In Japan there were concerns early on that the scene would be flooded with AI releases, but that pretty much hasn't been the case from what I've observed for these exact reasons.
