Great line from Sorkin's version of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' that I watched last night: "A mob is a place where people go to take a break from their conscience.”

The term “witch hunt” is overused in politics. Perhaps not now. Quite a bit of the British media should ask themselves serious questions as to whether the coverage they gave to this man was remotely proportionate. Likewise there are Qs for Cambridge- and whether they discharged their duty of care.

I don't want to take shots of grieving people, but honestly, the right baffles me. Why would you have so little self-respect as to be friends with someone who sees you as lesser? Gay men coming out with sycophantic tomes about Anne Widdicombe to me is just.... Bizarre.

I mean I understand you want the high street to remain full of nice independent shops, like the halcyon days. But they're gone. Shopping habits have changed. Far better to start innovating the spaces. More housing. More office space. More event space. More innovation. Make them places to go. To be.

Mam has been pestering me to watch Ann Droid. I think they forget to include the funny bits she insisted were in there and hilarious. "I have seen your mons pubis" oh yes absolute peak of boomer humour right there.

Me too! It was interesting. I'm there with 2 decades of working and campaigning in almost exclusively rural communities or communities with significant rural elements. Of course always a pleasure to learn from indefatigable Mark.

And so, I have something new to do as a member of the @libdems.org.uk Rural Communities policy working group. Here’s how it happened… liberalbureaucracy.blogspot.com/2026/07/rura...

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Why do I feel so much news is gaslighting us about the USA/Venezuela law. Yes Maduro was a bad guy, but this war is surely illegal on all fronts, and an affront to world order. Can we get to discussing that too?
