I am much more accustomed to dogs running loose without any warning at all… Sprocket and I encounter off-leash dogs nearly everywhere we go in Portland and it’s scary as hell… so this was actually far more polite than I’m used to while still being completely and utterly not okay.

Disability is wild. I was having a nice time out on a patio with my new partner and this lady rocked up and said “if anyone minds dogs say so” before she let three pugs loose 1. Okay first off 2. Who’s gonna get sued when I get jumped on and I back my wheelchair up and break a paw. 3. The fuck?

btw: they were not sharing information with us LONG before Steve made that comment about litigation. After the legislative session ended, we basically heard nothing from them. Because they thought a handshake deal with the mayor was enough to get hundreds of millions of city taxpayer money. 🙃

In the recent council work session, Dewayne Hankins, Blazers pres. of business ops, said “the first-class standard has been wielded as a weapon, chilling our negotiations.” He says this is why they’ve shared little (basically nothing) about what the renovations entail because they fear litigation.

The LDS (Mormon) church is worth nearly $300 billion now, the richest global religious org by far. They spent about $1.5 billion on humanitarian aid in 2025. About half of one percent of their wealth. Jeff Bezos is worth about $50 billion less but donated 7 times as much (and is still quite awful).

Hit and run on our parked car a few years ago. Portland police were useless, despite having witnesses and leads. This is just one example. They did nothing about smashed windows, stolen catalytic converters, vandalism, open air drug markets, and explosions/possible gunshots. Stopped calling them.

It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.

Going through old files and keepsakes. 😊 Are Christmas coupon books from little kids good for 18 years? My daughter is 23 now and has her own apartment. I don’t see an expiration date on this. 😂

Green paper Christmas coupon book that has repeated “Merry Christmas!” and candy canes at the top and bottom of the page. In little kid handwriting, it says “I will scrub the toylit” with a crayon picture of a girl scrubbing the toilet. There is gold tinsel tying the coupon book together in the upper left corner.

I want wetlands that protect communities from floods instead of being paved over. I want whales in healthy oceans, old-growth trees that outlive us, and night skies where the stars are brighter than the city lights.

Portland: everyone who is seriously thinking of using our CLEAN ENERGY FUND to bribe our basketball team to not leave town needs to know that our transit agency is on track to cut nearly 1/3 of its service from what it was in 2025. Which is the greater crisis?

As a grant writer, deadlines are inflexible. So I have to get right to the big “why” - and frame my writing with meaning and purpose from the start. If I can’t formulate it in text, I talk to someone to explain why funding something makes a difference. Often, that conversation opens the flood gates.

For anyone who tells you the Moda Center is this huge economic engine… no, it isn’t. Not at the scale that Wilson and other leaders keep claiming. It would take many decades to see break-even economic returns, let alone actual gain after pouring hundreds of millions into a renovation.

Kevin Foster@kevinhfoster.bsky.social · 3w ago

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and others continue citing “$600M” in annual economic activity from the Moda Center. Nearly half of that is player salaries, i.e. far less relevant. In reality, the Rose Quarter generates ~$18M in tax revenue each year, some of which is put back into the stadiums.

Folks may wonder why my service dog is so often unvested - the answer is that in places where pet dogs are allowed, we prefer to go incognito. Less pressure, fewer questions, fewer interruptions to our day. Weirdly, when vested with “DO NOT PET,” we are approached more often with petting requests. 🫥

How arrogant to believe that our survival is not tied to the survival of endangered species that need their natural habitats preserved above all else. We are signing the death warrants of the most vulnerable as well as signing our own. Save our wild places. 💔🌎

Today, the federal government finalized a major change to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) to remove vital habitat protections for endangered species.
