I don’t buy that excuse from them. They got this deal done during the short session which was a full year after the new council was set. Keith Wilson was beaming as he walked through the building working on this deal, all the while keeping his colleagues in the dark.
I think Keith Wilson and leadership in the Oregon legislature screwed the Portland City Council by leading the Blazers to believe this was all a done deal without including *any* input from city councilors.
I ....... don't really know how to feel about this. Why are they making this so hard? I really want to save the Blazers 🥺 but it feels like they simply do not care.

WOAH. Blazers leaked emails show they refused to respond to city emails asking basic questions, weeks before any “first-class” claim was mentioned, contradicting Dewayne Hankins claim that that claim “chilled negotiations” They were not negotiating in good faith since the beginning.

ultimately so funny that rip city mgmt’s approach in these emails was “we would rather die than create a written public record of anything we say or do” and then their lawyer just forwarded the whole thing to the City

Consider the people you know in 2026 who are wiling to answer an unknown number, listen to a pitch, and then willingly subject themselves to several minutes of questions about politics, a topic which almost no one alive enjoys - and ask yourself how well these folks represent the rest of us.

They’re effectively demanding the city either give up power with no return, potentially exposing us to greater liability in arena maintenance down the road, or negotiate blind. This is just plain bad faith negotiation. Then they go on to complain about the city economy and taxes because why not?
btw: they were not sharing information with us LONG before Steve made that comment about litigation. After the legislative session ended, we basically heard nothing from them. Because they thought a handshake deal with the mayor was enough to get hundreds of millions of city taxpayer money. 🙃
Kevin Foster@kevinhfoster.bsky.social · 4d agoIn the recent council work session, Dewayne Hankins, Blazers pres. of business ops, said “the first-class standard has been wielded as a weapon, chilling our negotiations.” He says this is why they’ve shared little (basically nothing) about what the renovations entail because they fear litigation.
Ugh. I think I'm gonna have to do it guys. I don't wanna but I gotta. Gonna make a substack 😂😭 I just have too many things to say, too many reflections on politics, too many things that I want to tell you about the inside of government. And I don't always want to do it in my councilor voice.
My new city council skills are coming in handy to help my neighbors navigate HOA drama 😮💨 but I'm so angry by how these HOA management companies have been treating us! My neighbors are low income, many live paycheck to paycheck, & these corporate management companies have screwed us so many times! 😡
