Would assume everyone knows it by now, but just in case "First the traitors, then the invaders" is an explicit reference to The Turner Diaries, where a white supremacist revolution overruns "The System" and kills all their enemy during the evocatively named "Day of the Rope".
Reading this & people's general reactions filling my timeline has revealed that I evidently have strong opinions on vintage cookware and tableware. Silverplate Oneida goes for $150 on ebay. Vintage Wagner castiron is the best. People can't give away their grandmother's dishes fast enough.
Well, this article is incredibly depressing for cooking enthusiasts. The short version: private equity has, over the last couple of decades, quietly bought up most of the classic brands you’ve heard of and then traded on their names while drastically cutting quality and closing American factories
I don't know what could have legitimized gender studies more than these goofs, which is why they basically want to make it illegal.

I have had the same UH policy for over a decade & can unequivocally say that it now costs significantly more, covers much less, with more loop holes that it did when I first enrolled *in the same plan*.
My first time having United Healthcare and all I can say is that in a society with any kind of half-functional regulatory state it would not even be legal to call this insurance.
Hard to believe Trump DHS is still successfully bamboozling senators on this issue, but Sens. King and Collins both publicly stating that the FBI is investigating today's fatal ICE shooting in Maine doesn't mean what they seem to think it means. 3 points: www.pressherald.com/2026/07/13/s...

Protests are growing after a man identified as a 26-year-old from Colombia was fatally shot. Immigration advocates say he was authorized to work in the U.S.

I think about my FIL saying he was “almost, like, disabled or something!” when he was dying & needed a lot of oxygen & couldn’t go places freely or with ease. I looked him in the eye and said “You ARE disabled. You are lucky to be disabled. The alternative is dying suddenly in a horrible accident.”
A quarter of people in the US are already disabled and most people become disabled in some way before they die, so.
ICE agents must be tried for the murder of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
Federal immigration agents who killed a man during a traffic stop in Houston on Tuesday had been searching for a different person, according to a Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman.
New, for @talkingpointsmemo.com, my look at the history of the term "remigration," a euphemism for ethnic cleansing (a euphemism in of itself); & how Thomas Rousseau, leader of Patriot Front, used it in private Nazi chat 8 years ago. Now it's official US policy. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/when-yo...

I just learned that the term "carbon footprint" was developed by BP to offload responsibility for climate change onto individuals. Something like that's happening in higher ed with AI. Institutions capitulate or dodge; students are submitting; & they believe it's their individual failing. 7/

I generally think generational analysis is bullshit right up until we hit should that dead guy still be in the Senate?
My maternal grandmother was not a good person. She refused diagnosis or treatment for the tumors on her lungs. Her heart was literally crumbling, her veins full of debris & clots. Yet she lived for years, insisting "God will take me when it's time." The joke became "Clearly, God doesn't want you."
